Better Beasts gone purple

I had this installed and working. I turned it into a .omod for use with Oblivion Mod Manager. The last thing I added after it was a load screen replacer and load screen adder (but disabling them doesn't help).

Any suggestions on what to try? I've just downloaded BOSS in case it has something to do with load order.

(Reordering the mods didn't help)

[EDIT] I gave up on Slof's Oblivion Better Beasts but found that Slofs Khajiit Retexture works OK.

Pink or purple things means that your are indeed missing a texture, period. It has nothing to do with load order. You can try to use OBMM to reinstall the mod, or you can look closely at the textures in the mod.

I always save the compressed archive of a download so I can refer to it if I need help with this sort of thing. By examinng this, you can see the exact directory structure that needs to exist for the mod to work properly.

Some textures are hard coded, not dynamic. Meaning, if the maker of the mesh isn't careful, it will be pointing to a specific location rather than a dynamic one.

Textures should be relative from the data folder, but not all of them are. In my case, I did not install Oblivion into it's default location, so some mods have not worked because of it. I have actually had to create a path to match the default install, that is, c:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\textures. Then I put the textures in their proper folder, and then they work.

I don't know Nifscope, but I did download it and can muddle my way through figuring out where a certain model is expecting it's textures to be.

I did exactly the same thing, so this may well be the problem. I'm happy with my different mod but that bit of info may well come in very useful later, so thanks. :thanks:
