DemonicLemon
So it it possible at all with blender(free modeling program) and gimp(free photoshop)?
roquefort
Nice idea, but Bethesda's T&Cs (and your contractual obligation to agree with them) wouldn't allow porting meshes and textures to another game. You'd have to make everything again from scratch to stay legal, while avoiding copyright infringement (on textures, for e.g.).
DemonicLemon
What if you do not release them at all?
roquefort
Well then nobody would know unless you told them. There probably would be no copyright violation if it wasn't distributed at all, but it would still be in breach of the contract agreement, as I see it. You should know that I am in no way, shape, or form, a lawyer ;)
DemonicLemon
How exactly would I be breaching the agreement at all, can I get a direct quote?
gsmanners
I think Fallout 3 has the standard "click-through" EULA (I don't remember because who honestly considers those to be legally binding?), and although there is certainly a lot of dispute over what is permissible even in a license that the user signs with their own blood. Book and magazine publishers have tried and failed for many years to control how you use their material through licensing, but fall afoul legal precedents. It's a very interesting subject, one that I suggest you discuss with a lawyer if you're really concerned about it.
DemonicLemon
So if it is ok as long as I do not distribute it, can I get a tutorial for FO3 to gmod player character conversion?
roquefort
So if it is ok as long as I do not distribute it, can I get a tutorial for FO3 to gmod player character conversion?I suspect that anyone here offering such assistance would have the site admins on their tail, as it would be helping someone to contravene Bethsoft's licensing. You're on your own with this one, I fear, as regards this website.
DemonicLemon
I guess it will not be ok... Thanks anyway.
GETbacon
you know you could just re-couler an npc from Gmod and at least pretend he's a vault dweller ;)
