Grumpfbork
I have a strange problem when I use certain kinds of armor for some time now. Usually the game works just fine, but when I put on armor chances are high that the game went into some kind of freeze when closing the pipboy. I can see the arm going down and then the game just stops for 30 - 50 seconds, sometime even longer. This happens with almost every armor, the only armor I can use without the freezes are the leather armor and the reileys ranger armor. This is really annoying since I cant get rid of the freezes. And I tried everything that came into my mind. Uninstalling or reinstalling all custom textures or armors.Defrag my Fallout 3.Disable all mods one after one. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Grumpfbork
Oh, come on... no one with an idea?
csb
Are you using a hi-res retex of the Pipboy? That might contribute. This also can apply to other hi-res texture packs. It is something I intermittently notice, usually in places where hi-res textures are in place (and yes, I have a hi-res retex of Pipboy that probably contributes). Grumpfbork
Thanks for the answer, but I think this has nothing to do with the pipboy itself. Maybe I was a bit unclear here, sorry for that. I am very sure it has something to do with certain armors/clothes itself. It happens only when I equip certain clothes, in this case I experience some kind of delay already when I click on it in the pipboy. I can, for example, equip the leather armor without problems. But when I try to equip a power armor of any kind I have a short delay when I klick on the armor and when I close the pipboy the game freezes in the middle of the the move when the arm is going down. I already de-installed all highres textures, but this problem also happens with vanilla armors. The strange thing is, that this problem popped out of nowhere, without any new stuff installed. csb
Another thing to try: It might be related to Fallout 3's use of fddshow. If you don't have a codec utility, get the K-Lite utility. The latest version disables fddshow for Fallout3 and Oblivion by default on install. So even if you don't use the codec utility for anything but that, you'll be ahead. Grumpfbork
Unfortunately I don`t have ffdshow installed. I guess I just have to live with this. Anyway, thanks for the help!
