added then removed mods... where's the loading page/cursor?!

I recently tried downloading mods for the first time on a game I've had awhile that had always worked fine (yes, oblivion). So I found a lot of nice once and put them on and they worked until I got to an extravagent "better cities" mod at which the game wouldn't even start. After some bothersome research and trial and error, I found that the mod would not work without some OMM or bian (whatever that stuff is) installed. So I painstakingly deleted every shead of BC which had already been spead all around my data file to ensure it would show up when I tried to apply it to the game, yet I've not encountered a new issue even when I have the data files restored to dafault. When the game begins and I hit esc to go to the menu, the loading screen is white. It gets worse though, as the main menu OBLIVION logo is a white box as is my cursor. Also, I can click on buttons yet not options (click "continue" can't click "you sure? yes no" or click "exit" can't click "yes no")

What did I do??

You've deleted too much. Many mods overwrite files in the data folder. So, if you have deleted everything that was included in BC, then you have removed some basic items.

At this point you will probably need to reinstall, unless, you made a backup of your data folder before starting to apply mods :whistling:

reinstalled, deleted and reinstalled BC too. Got rid of some problematic mods. Still crashes before I even get the main menu. If i disable BC oblivion works fine. OBMM when I check for "new conflict" says that many BC files don't have master file?? I places all esp esm/similar files directly to the data folder and meshes and textures to appropriate locations without repalacing anything and ran "old compatability" check only a (few yellow alerts) I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT THE FREAK HAS TO BE SO COMPLICATED! :wallbash:

Sorry but seriously I've been trying to get this b@stard to work all day (not that I'm much of a gamer, I'm just stubborn and can't let things go) I got OBMM JUST for better cities! come on! I can't even run more than five or so mods or I crash upon talking to any NPC.

vista user. :verymad:

help, I know I'm "computer stupid" but I read most of the read me info and followed (loading order too) I don't know anything about mods!

I don't like the way Oblivion deals with "Master Files," but they are very useful for doing certain things, so it's something we have to live with.

If a mod uses a "Master," it needs that master installed and enabled. If Oblivion tries to load a mod and the Master is missing, it simply gives up without explanation--which is exactly the trouble you have been having.

So, what you are looking for is something that ends in ".esm" not ".esp". Look through the readme, it will probably have some installation notes. Read them. It is a pain, yes, but it should tell you everything you need to know. Look through the archive of the mod for it and move it into the data folder and enable it.

nvm fixed it. yay pretty!

Yes I have shivering isles. TYVM pplz

for anyone else with similar issues looking this up, I disabled all the esp files that were apparently missing master files namely:

tears of the fiend

Thievery in the imperial city

Old crow inn

Halcyon island

Knightly Armory

Ruined Tail's Tail

VH Bloodlines

Valley View estates

Bruma Barrowfields

and a mod called black horse courrior expanded was causing my NPC conversation crashes somehow. I deleted that one.
