Extraterrestrial intelligence?

I believe that the probablility of earth being unique is just too low to declare for sure that we're alone. But... I also believe that for all relevant purposes we are alone. Without faster than light travel (for which there is zero support in science) the resources to contact a civilization outside your home system would be beyond belief. So the odds of us every contacting this (possible) intelligent life are almost zero. So no, I don't believe in ufos or any of that kind of alien.

IMO, Intelligent life, Statistically, must exist and we have most likely have been "discovered" by another race, but they took one look at our violent culture and decided we wern't worth the effort of contact because of risk of either contamination (culturally and biologically) or damage (to both parties, that is via aggression, religious nutters etc.)

 

As for thier appearence, they VERY likely will have evolved VERY differently and they would not be a sort of "Star Trek Alien" (ei. human, with different skin tone, hair, maybe some markings or ridges on thier face)

 

Either that or we have been discovered and the said aliens can't communicate with us for some reason or other.

God created humans to be the only intelligent species. Anywhere. There may be "aliens", I agree that scientifically it is unlikey but possible. However, there is no other concious, intelligent life. Period. I know this because I believe what my God says, and he says that only his children will enter heaven. Any other creature of conciousness, or intelligence, therefore simply cannot exist.

I vote Yes but not with either of the attached condition.

(Probably because I WANT to believe it, that is usually why I believe anything without proof.)

 

I am not attacking your position but I would enquire if the entity God being referred to would be considered 'out there' or 'extraterrestrial' and of course I assume being God would naturally include being intelligent.

The stories/reports of angels and other 'heavenly/sky' beings comes to mind also.

Or perhaps I am offbase on the question and should assume 'beings like us' is intended.

There is most likely life forms out there, but probably no more advanced than us. They might be still going through the stone age, lol. Maybe they are exactly the same us and they have a game called Morrowind...i bet our Morrowind is better, lol. :D

i dunno, their morrowind could have MORE than 2 moons, and the imperial legion could be replaced by the Galactic Empire! and the nerevarine could actually be the Chosen One...hey we're really getting somewhere here :D
