Krullsquest
I loved the screen shots when morrowind was first shown, not so impressed with the screen shots I have seen from Oblivion. Maybe its just the charators try to look so real! I won't write it off yet as a good game, but will keep my doubts.
Ancalagon
uh, duh. of course Oblivion is going to be better than MW. I mean, it technically does everything that one could hope for in an RPG that hasn't been done yet. the question is, will it be done well. By the way, how do you figure that Oblivion is going to do poorly because of the fact that it looks better than MW? I seriously fail to see any logic in that argument. The only downside I see to Obliv is that the TESCS IV is not provided with the game (only availiable via download) with some other quirks (fast travel, gps compass, slight dumbing down but not enough to be offensive like Thief III.) and so on. Those aside, I still think this will be a hell of a lot better than Morrowind ever was. I mean, the NPC's can emote for odin's sake.
Stampede
You rarely hear the argument against better graphics. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course. I just hope this thread is not some lame attempt to provoke our other members.
Mercbird
Well at worst its going to be new, cause if I have to see Dagoth-Ur's silly little dance and Almalexia's smirking face one more time I might be driven to take up knitting. But better it will be ... and I am not going to whine about quirks that any new game has, only out of loyalty to Morrowind. You simply cannot play Oblivion wishing its Morrowind, aint the same thing issit? Remember your granmother go 'In the good old days we used to ....' Blah blah blah. So I'm not worried about that
Guest
The graphics at the time were great in Morrowind, but they would have been nothing if the gameplay was not at the standard it was, Graphics, in my opinion, are not the be all and end all of a game, they are part of a package. The graphics could be photo realistic but if the game was boring, or no storyline, then I would not buy. But if it had a great story and interesting gameplay, but only ok graphics I would buy the game. I think that to much has been placed on the graphical aspects of Oblivion, It will never live up to what somepeople want it to be. But for me, well i'd be ok if there was a similar level of emersion and quests as morrowind with ok graphics. And I know for a fact that as I role-play my characters in Morrowind, and plan the same for Oblivion, the NPC radiant AI additions will be fan-bloody-tastic. <End of rant>
loveme4whoiam
It will never live up to what somepeople want it to be. I dunno, the screenshots seem to exceed my expectations of gaming beauty :D At least, until the Unreal 3 engine starts churning out games *begins to salivate* And I agree, the radiant AI is a huge addition to me - I don't roleplay excessively but it'll just add so much depth to the game experience. Guest
It will never live up to what somepeople want it to be. screenshots seem to exceed my expectations of gaming beauty excessively Mine to, but there are just some people who think, for instance, the screen with the lady on the horse, that the field in the background look to coloured in and not real enough??????? For me they look great, and realistical I'd prefer that sort of draw distance than a photorealistic tree 100 yards away from me.
Darkh Templar
I must point out that most games that have impressive graphics often either lack gameplay elements or are in one way or another poorly balanced. However, I don't think that will be the problem with Oblivion, as they've invested so much in this game (body and soul).
