  1. Looks like its a well known bug if you check the bug section here gives a lot of options, including advancing the quest with a console command, as a last resort they say. Perhaps consider adding the unofficial Skyrim patch, works a charm for a whole lot of these things, I swear I've never had most of these issues keeping the patch up to date :ninja:
  2. Dragonborn DLC does that some, or use the console in game, Console Commands (Skyrim)/Perks
  3. Perhaps if you have an existing character with basic Skyrim survival abilities, you could turn them into a mage, but zapping a dragon out of the air with one blast is not going to really happen at level one. Or if thats your plan then just play in god mode? No mod needed! :pinch:
  4. I would almost want a mod where the Jarl makes the attempt but never quite completes or suceeds at it, I like the poignant reminder of the changes in Tamriel since well, the start of the Elder Scrolls. Certainly the Imperial Jarl should give it a go as he would not have the predjudice against magic, I wonder if repairs ala Hearthfire wouldnt work well to the existing wrecked houses, and yes, how would any enchanter operate without a basic smithy at least. But the threat of whatever caused the Great Collapse is still there/unknown and I can imagine that would discourage new inhabitants, so it should be really hard to recruit a smith like you can only perhaps get Ghorza gra-Bagol unskilled apprentice or perhaps rather recruit one from the Imperial camps or something - post civil war of course. Peacetime work
  5. I've noticed my texture issues got sorted after I started using BOSS to get the load order right, dl here, perhaps it sorts the (future) lighting fx too  To quote an old buddy 'We were all noobs once' and self correcting noobs are a pleasure!
  6. I happened to watch another of Gophers vids yesterday, where he reviewed and compared Project ENB (realistic) to ENB Sharpshooter and it seemed that the shadows (this was in an interior) allowed you to see more. Says he used it togheter with Climates of Tamriel, perhaps that would work better for you? Vannilla shadows seems okay to me, I dont play with any of these my rig can't do it. Skyrim ENB Mods 2 - Project ENB (realistic) : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20781 with Climates Of Tamriel - Weather - Lighting - Audio : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17802
  7. Zap wolves and rats and crabs ... a lot, and when the time comes and the mana goes retreat your derrierre off to a townguard. A really stupid solution, but there it is. The all the time dying is why I really struggle to play a mage, at least up to level 20 or so, and even then the tactics you have to play is very different. I love playing a dual wielder in light armour, which is a very agressive stance and relies on me closing the distance and slicing things to ribbons real fast, so backing up and shielding (whatsitcalled!?) is hard. She's already a hell of an enchantress and alchemist (needs her blades sharp and poisoned)I have her at level fifty and am seeing if I can turn her into a mage. Shes zapping a lot of crabs and seems to have made it up to wolves, with her left hand ... her right hand is still clutching that blade. NOT going to go further unmodded so I'm planning on: Magic Duel - Rebornby Seb263 Balanced Magic by mysty for starters and maby later I will add a Midas Magic or Apocalypse Spells, but will be trawling GEMS for help cause I like it lore friendly
  8. Two years and your not letting anyone else win, now thats endurance  Agree with all of the above + loathe that top down view thing :wallbash:
  9. I have to say I kinda like the Skyrim class or lack there-off system, if at first I missed choosing one. As my character progresses through the game she seems to grow and change, like right now she's become more interested in magic and is debating giving up some of her hardwon smithing skills to progress more into a Spellsword. And after the Markath episode (what you get sucked into after your first visit) she may very well have gone dark brotherhood for a murderous rampage, trust me. I like that I feel that I have the freedom to do that and not be just one thing or the other, but then I'm a totally ambiguous person, and I can say I find it really hard to start a new character with out the helping hand of a class selection that would make it easier to play a mage after just about 600 hours of playing a dualwielder on one character. (Yes there is more than the one but she is my fav) I played Fallout 3 between Oblivion and Skyrim, and you could spot the trend towards the skill tree there, as for being forced into choices to progresss the game, less so than others. Logo? Do you mean avatar? Its nice, is that from Alladin? But it would be of topic  EDIT:Oh the pic on the first page, dude its writing on a black background, nice writing, guess I'm all 'branded' out, I loathe getting to the description of a mod by scrolling my ass off past all the pretty damm pics Later Edit: I agree that the stuff that sits in my journal like the 'listen to whatsisfaces scheme' intro to the Thieves guild should give me a choice right there for the sake of gettting it out of my journal, and perhaps me approaching them later on if I want to go become a thief might cost a bit more effort to get the topic again. And everytime I open my journal and see the 'come eat with us' on a corpse quest I grill my ass off, how revolting  Still changing the class system back to an previous system may not be the solution, and how do you lead the player to places they need to be if you dont ... funnel them a bit here and there, especially in an open ended game.
  10. Everywhere has more real crime to investigate, that would rate higher than cencoring peoples right to make idiots of themselves when they open their mouths, I would count the bomb threats as the real issue over the tasteless jokes for instance, but the slant of the article almost brushes over that. I would have no problems with someone being arrested/investigated for making public bomb threats. People seem to forget that once youve uploaded something its pretty much there till the Internet bombs, and not everything you read is truth. The salacious reporting leaves a somewhat to be desired, the name Mandela was slapped into the headline to attrack attention, and looking at the rest of the sites 'news' items it will certainly be my first stop to see what colour undies some (s)tartlet is flashing. Also you only have to wait for real life to make the worst jokes inconsequential, and he certainly needs some investigating Fake Champion Schizophrenic Sign Language interpreter except he is now admitted to hospital cause he might have a breakdown the poor conman. TIA!
  11. Hear hear! Only one more year then I can CHANGE CATEGORIES!
  12. Was planning on buying the Thief pre-order, but even with the discount its more than what local suppliers are offering ... bulk import of DVD + Tax + Import duties + shop overhead + whatnot = less than direct download virtual copy?? Sure you can call me an an ignoramus regarding economics, I'll still feel ripped off. Snowglobe trading card included :verymad: TorchlIght II looks like a bargain ...ooooo
  13. Alibye and herb0815 - for the the login issue update to version 0.46,read [updated] New NMM version out, help us out and update to it for more info TpOverlord perhaps you can find more help here as you already have 0.46, I guess if you post over there you will get NMM expert help a whole lot quicker, good luck!
  14. I think youve just found the problem! Textures and meshes wont give travel problems. Try see what the solution was for the non- vanilla followers, or perhaps one of the follower improvement mods could correct or give you a solution mmm look at GEMS follower section for lore friendly ones I use the vanilla followers as a take-loot-home system, load em up with stuff I want to sell and send em home but it only really works well with a multiple follower mod, and then you get them bumping into you, blocking doorways, crowding into loot cubbies in a dungeon and the traps >wail< :wallbash: I think I saw one mod you can actually send a follower home to go sell stuff ... Sorry bout the sidetrack, Why and How I cant help you with, try one of the creators of a highly endorsed follower mod for advice on that perhaps? To me theyre just dragonbone carrier systems. Except Vilkas, I like the sneer.
  15. Your planned list looks good, and I can also suggest having a look at whats listed at GEMS for lore friendlyness. Mods I wont play without are the Unofficial patches, SKYUI and Unlimited Bookshelves. I collect. And Guard Dialogue Overhaul or (and this is a BIG or as they don't seem compatable) No NPC Greetings (reduced distance option) 'cause there are three NPC's in Whiterun I always hope gets it from a bloody dragon, apart from the snarky guards who seem to become fixated on my scent after *spoiler implied and not said* a certain event. EDIT: @ racedoc on the Unofficial patches "is it true you cannot finish Skyrim without the use of those unofficial patches?" I would say not true, I have played through most of the main quests without them, having played vannilla for a long time before adding mods, pretty much untill the first DLC started showing up I guess, but there are little things that certainly disrupt immersion for me, like getting stuck on the bloody stairs in your house in Whiterun, or whatserface and the chair in your house in Whiterun, I just solved that problem by donating her to that faction that will need drones, or using her as dragon bait. (How's that for avoiding spoilers ) Breaking immersion for some RPG'ers is a cardinal sin and makes the game 'unplayable', best example I can think of is the ending of Fallout 3, I have never been able to go replay it after that. But read through the changelog for the patches - I never get far before I get bored :woot:
  16. Hi - I've had some carriage travel related issues since installing Hearthfire, not specifically this one, but the unofficial heartfire patch sorted it, and/or I ignored the issue (read these posts: 1 and 2) I tend to pick flowers on the run  Perhaps list what mods and DLC you do have installed? No amount of Googling found me an easy answer for you, but perhaps someone clever may have an idea. From what I can see in the/a wiki you should be able to get to undiscovered towns via the carriages. Sorry this is not more help but I just didn't want to leave you hanging.
  17. Hi ... I'm just calling you Unass. All you can do at this point is to get more beer. I'll go do that right now, too  I cannot guess what yo did to the poor Lenovo but if Steam's already running leave it alone and have the beer we just got. There are some very clever people on the hardware discussion forums that can surely help, but they are likely going to expect that you've searched the forums a bit. PS. IIf it makes you feel better I cannot get through some of the mod descriptions without alcholic buffers ... Hope you get it running!
  18. Hail and welcome freshly made Woggsy! You'll find friendly space around here, and plenty of metal. Some of it even liquid ... Merc
  19. Hey there and welcome, Certainly is the best place for mods, they've kept me so busy for so long I've not uttered a peep in forever! The endorsement and dowload top lists on Skyrim Nexus are a good guide on what works well, as well as G.E.M.S. for lore friendly mods (most of which you'll find on Nexus) But get Nexus Mod Manager first! Merc
  20. I remeber something similar with the dwemer centurion steam effect (couple of funny you-tubes on that), one guy came up with the below, trouble is going to be which effect from what is stuck on you, perhaps trawling through the Creation kit could be usefull. Someone also used the the "Become Ethereal" shout. Hope one of these helps, but also Google 'Skyrim effect glitch' and trawl through these Skyrim bugs (In the console)Type help "ice wraith" 4 And look at the list for a spell effect called "ice wraith fx" or something like that. Note down the ID for it (the 10 digit number) Now type: player.removespell TheNumberYouWrote if that fails, try: player.dispel TheNumberYouWrote Original post here Also found this one (wouldn't do the add bit myself): " Figure out what kind of enemy FX you've got spewing out of you. For the sake of argument, I'm going with the Spriggan here. Open the console. Type, (leaving out the < >) . This will bring up a list of all the miscellaneous variables associated with the Spriggan. For a creature with a multi-word name, you'll need to use quotes (e.g. ). Using Page Up and Page Down on your keyboard, navigate up this list until you find the variables staring with SPEL: . The ones that cause the glitch seem to be called either abilities or FX. So in this example, we see there's one saying "SPEL: (0009AA38) 'Spriggan Abilities' ". We're going to add this ability to our character, and then remove it. (The adding may not actually be necessary, but I'm including it just in case). In the console, type . A message will pop up on screen saying something like "Spriggan Abilities added". If you look in your active effects in the magic menu at this point, you'll see a spell of that name. Now to remove the effect. In the console, type . Again, a message will appear on screen confirming this if it's worked. Exit the console and check your character. If you got the correct enemy FX, you should have successfully fixed the glitch. If it hasn't worked, you've probably got the wrong one; try a different one. For example, if the Dwarven centurion code doesn't work, try the one for the Dwarven spider. Also, some creatures have multiple visual FX; if you've got one of these, add and remove them one by one until you get the right one. " Original post link And some people went for a sex change: "Open console and type "sixchance", it will turn your char to the opposite six, then do it again to revert your char to original, the thing that was attached to your character will be gone."
  21. I found it usefull to create some confusion, but other than that its just so much fun if youre taunting yourself in a cavern :whistling:

  24. Female gamer. I remeber the proud day we got a ZX Spectrum, and my brother and I played that thing to pieces, he always taking it apart and me putting it back together, still it always remained more his thing. After that I only really used computers at work (shared terminals!) it was my younger brother who let my play Half-Life on his pc and used me as cannon fodder for Quake LAN games, my bug really only bit after I played Morrowind on his pc and was compelled to build my own (really, how hard could it be and he was pissed that I figured out how to reset his password from the bios) to be able to play it all the time. I missed the entire main plot of Morrowind for about eight months, doing absolutely everthing else. Since then I've played just about anything (Fallout, Neverwinter, Dune, Vamp Bloodlines, Longest Journey, Dungeon Quest, that dude that got ... whatever, lots more Half-Life, Thief, The Witcher, Spellsomething, Black and White, Dark Messaih, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Knights of the Old Republic, Far Cry, lots of nameless shooters, Diablo, GTA, Assasins Creed, Plants vs Zombies even Sims) I could buy or borrow, and it was only Left 4 Dead that got me really playing FPS again (refer comment about cannon fodder) Never liked online gaming much, you do get flack or hit on as a girl, but tried most that offered a free play period, so I guess more RPG than FSP, but then I still played Dungeons and Dragons as a board game. And dressed up for it. PS. I do prefer playing as female when theres the choice. Nord Female
  25. Devastating blow for two handed and Savage strike for one handed are the perks in the skill tree you need for "Standing power attacks do 25% bonus damage with a chance to decapitate your enemies." My link
