Followers will not move/sandbox in My Megaton House

I was in GECK the other day and I thought to myself this house is way to small for me so I built a sort of extention to the house moving the entrance door back, building a hallway and adding a basement. I completed the Navmesh and started up the game, house looks great but followers will not follow me down to the basement and if I tell them to sandbox with SCC they just stand there. Can anyone help me with this.

Aditional Info: I got some sort of a Navmesh warning when I saved the file but I have no clue how to fix what it is telling me.

Okay. two possible reasons, #2 is more likely.

1) You did not perform the "Find Cover Edges" or "Finalize" your navmesh. There are done with icons on the Navmesh toolbar.

2) You have encountered the infamous Navmesh bug.

To see if its the navmesh bug. Save your game while in your megaton home and your follower is not responding. Exit the game to the desktop. Startup the game again and load your game. Do they follow now?

The way to fix the infamous Navmesh bug is to turn your ESP into an ESM using FO3MasterUpdate.

To do this, do the following:

1) Download FO3Edit and FOMM and install them.

2) Make two copies of the FO3Edit.exe file (right click on the file, then copy and past to the same folder)

3) Rename one copy to FO3MasterUpdate.exe

4) Rename the other copy to FO3MasterRestore.exe

5) Run FOMM and only tick your mod, nothing else. Exit FOMM

6) Run FO3MasterUpdate.

This will auto matically turn your mod into a master and the infamous Navmesh bug will bother your no more.

You can't save changes to an ESP though, so if you want to make changes to your mod, you will have to turn it back into an ESP. You can do this by doing steps 5 & 6 but running FO3MasterRestore.exe instead of FO3MasterUpdate.exe.

Note: You can also change your mod into an ESM/ESP by using FO3Edit and manually editing the File Header for your mod.

In mu opinion, using MasterUpdate aned MasterRestore is the better way if you are going to be changing your mod back and forth many times. It will be less time consuming in the long run.
