no no. everyone should be availible to be approached and sold to if they have the caps. but as well as that, put in a function where people run over and talk to you like the woman in megaton that gives you stuff. If they ask for somthing in particular that you have prehaps a caps little bonus is in order otherwise folg em any rubbish.

I think it would add a unique element into the game but be reasonably esay to make i would hope. if anyone is a dab hand with the geck i would help out best i can with anything else.

The problem with this (I'm not saying it can't be done) is that most non-vendor NPCs in the game do not have caps in their inventory. So, without a major overhaul of NPC inventories, the barter process would be pointess. By creating an actual vendor and giving that vendor a merchant container, you are allowing their inventories to be updated regularly. Basically, you would have to make every NPC in the game have a merchant container so their caps would respawn over time. If you just added caps to all NPCs inventories, then once those caps were used during thr barter process, they would never again be able to barter with the player.

so what you are saying is that every person would need a physical container in the wasteland in order to have a merchant refreshing inventory. couldnt they all be locked away in one un accesible room? i hope it is posible cos i want to sell off all my unused guns and drugs.

Yes, you could give each NPC a mechant container in an unused cell. But the amount of work involved is huge. There are so many vendors already. So many infact, that you can fast travel from one to the other and by the time you get back to the first, their inventories will already be restocked. I have no problem selling all my loot to existing vendors. I just consider it part of the RPG experience. Sometimes I'm out looting and pilaging, other times I'm out on a selling spree.

Also, if your main goal here is to be able to dump your goods for caps, then why not just increase the amount of caps that the existing vendors have each time you visit them. That would be a whole lot easier.

You could upgrade Moira in megaton, any one or all of the vendors in RC, Tulip in the museum of history, etc, etc. Give them each 5000 caps per update or whatever you like.

as much as i love the existing traders and rely on selling all of my wares to them i would love to see a mod that put in a bank of the wasteland. like a market crosed with a bank containing a whole bunch of saftey deposit boxes. wouldnt have to be everyone but it would allow for an expansion which i think is a big missing feature. maybe one day eh?

hmmmm... it would be a royal pain, but it would also be pretty cool. It only makes sense that people would approach strangers or known adventurer types entering a town and ask if they had any goodies to offer. The Megatoners don't venture outside much, for example, but they almost certainly see you carrying in loads of loot, and they'd probably love to try to get it from you at a better price than they'd have to pay at Moira's after you sold it to her. The Underworlders would probably love you if you brought them stuff, and the kids at Big Town have a desperate need for things and no traders to bring them.

Now, THAT'S the mod I'd really like to see. A trader in Big Town who buys your stuff, but doesn't have much money, so you have to give them a low price. For doing this, you'd get good karma. ( No karma boost for insisting on normal prices. )

see, thats the idea. not every one has to do it. there are many people that roam the wastes. hunters, outcasts, brotherhood, wastelanders ect. if 3 of most people factions had that function programmed as well as a few important towns folk and random town settlers it would totally kick ass. i can imagine creating a bank model in the geck cant be that much trouble. just all of the work programming the trader interface i can imagine would be the test. imagine relating a quest to rob the bank for a massive karma loss or foil a bank robbery for a massive karma boost.
