Sound problem after installing Windows 7

After installing Windows 7, all sound plays out of a speaker near the back of the computer on the right side, a speaker I had not known existed until now. Previously, sound played out of the front of the laptop. Any ideas?

I'd recommend giving more details about your laptop. Brand and model of laptop as well as what kind of audio chip the motherboard is using...can be seen when you right-click "Computer" --> Manage --> Device Manager --> (somewhere around here...cannot remember exact path in Win7)

 

Also, did you go to Microsoft Update and get the latest hotfixes and drivers after installing Win7? That usually fixes most hardware issues where initial support was not built-in to the install CD.
