OOC> Didn't hear from gman so moving this on. I am assuming neither mac nor Esha have any opinion as to whether they are to do sailing and will simply follow. If that is not so they should post before getting into the boat.

On topic.

After you are fed and rested you follow directions to Ladeep. He has outrigger canoes for hire at a price you can afford. The boats are operated by oars. They ride very high in the water and he advises you that there are no shoals anywhere near the island that could cause you any problems. There are no sea creatures in the vicinity that are dangerous and storms are rare at this time of year.

"If one blows up unexpectedly keep bailing out the boat. It's practically indestructible and won't sink. If it capsises siimply cling onto the hull. The only other place you can land the boat is under the cliffs in the north east. There is a small beach there and a cave for shelter. Rocks protrude from the sea all around but navigating between them is safe enough, even if a bit tricky."

He has the following equipment for sale or hire - life belts, ropes, lanterns, fishing nets and pots. Bailing buckets are already present.

You hire a boat and life belts.

He asks if you need anything else.

"Since this is just a small rowboat, we won't likely need the seacharts. Lanterns and rope will be useful, especially if we're heading there after nightfall." Ritz says while making sure she has everything she needs. After checking her own equipment, bow, 2 spare bow strings, quiver & arrows, 2 flasks of water, 1 ration of food, knife and some string, she replies; "Everyone should make sure they have at least 1 flask of fresh water with them, in case we do get stranded. Finding drinkable water isn't always easy." She packs her stuff back in the backpack and is ready to go.

Esha checks her pouches. She has plenty of water and also herbs and bark that can be used to make unhealthy water drinkable should the need arise. She dislikes the water intensly. She much prefers the feel of the Earth under her feet...so she may feel the Goddess and creation through her skin. The water is so wild and rolling...

thinking of the rolling Esha reaches into her pouch and begins to chew on a minty flavored leaf....

"Wait!" Druce yells. "Don't leave without me!" Druce hurries onto the boat. "Sorry I'm so late everyone," he says. "Some... complications arose..." he casts a nervous glance over his shoulder. He walks onto the boat, looking around at the other members of the party as he does so. "Interesting lot," he thinks to himself.

"It sure would be nice if I had a bird onboard here," he says. "It may come in handy. Preferably a hawk." He finishes with the slight sound of a hint in his voice.

OOC-> Sorry I took so long to join everyone. I was away all of last week, and there was a family emergency that popped up yesterday... :ermm: Also, sorry for the short post. I'm typing on my iPod Touch... :P I'm glad to finally be a part of this great RP.

You sail north (all except for Ritz who is swimming). Initially the boat sails past the grassland. The coastline shows crumbling, eroding edges it would be impossible to moor against and difficult to climb up. Further on the cliffs begin and the castle's curtain wall towers above you. You can see the narrow path between the wall and the cliff edge. There is no mooring here either. Eventually, about an hour before sundown, you arrive at the north-eastern corner of the island. As described to you there is a small beach and a cave visible in the cliff wall. The castle walls are right at the edge without room for a path on either side of this beach. Further erosion will see the wall toppling into the sea. Immediately above the beach (from the boat, you can see nothing from the beach) there is a small patch of land at the top of the cliff with enough room for about half a dozen people to stand. There is also a gate in the wall here. However it is very old and solid and from what you make out has not been opened in years. It might be worth investigating except the overhanging cliff would be impossible to climb even for the experienced.

Navigating the craft to the beach is not easy but you have the assistance of a swimmer to make sure you beach the craft safely. From here the rocks out to see look like teeth. The overhanging cliff is not reassuring. The cave is shallow but dry and above the water line. There is no indication that it has ever been occupied.

Outside the mouth of the cave there is a line of detritus thrown up by the sea indicating where the high tide mark is. The line is marked by the usual coastal waste - dry, dead seaweed, driftwood and the remains of the occasional sea creature.
