The Master Of Zooz

Ritz has a slightly hard time regaining her cold and calm composure, but manages to get a grip of herself relatively fast after the near-death experience, should she think about what had happened, no one else would ever know about it.

Ritz asks Auran in a calm, slightly soothing voice;"I am sorry for being this direct at a time like this, but what exactly is the reason behind Damiel's transformation? I am curious of what is the exact reason behind me and the others almost getting killed." She thinks to herself about the situation and tries to analyze everything that had happened in the past few hours.

The Mage sighs.

"I was experimenting with ways of prolonging life. I have had - varying degrees of success. One day Damiel had a heart attack and died before my eyes. Without thinking I poured my latest potion into her mouth hoping - well I am not sure what for. At first she seemed to get well. Later we learned that it is not possible to cheat death and get away with it. The villagers do not know the story but believe everything here is a vampire. No one, not even you can leave and there is nothing that anyone can do. There is no cure or treatment I have ever discovered to help a creature such as Damiel."

Esha looks at Auran and says to him with a voice filled with sorrow "I beg to differ Mage. Known to the Witches are ways not know to others. I can release your wife from her unholy bonds...but only at great cost to myself and to you."

Esha then turns to her companions. "Please we must discuss this and then prepare at all haste. If it is to be done I must clense myself. It will also involve sacrifice on all our parts...."

"I am willing to help, but I do need to know what kind of sacrifices we are dealing with. I am not one to blindly jump into things beyond my own control. Self sacrifice may be good on occasions, but even it does have it's limits. There are only a very few things I am not willing to part with, so that is not something to fret about. Caution is simply my trademark.";Ritz says in a calm voice.

Ritz looks at her bow and quiver, which is almost empty of arrows, with most of the arrows being broken while used against Damiel in her lichdame form. She thinks to herself;*Damnit, this is going to take a lot of time for me to replenish my arrow stock.* She starts collecting the silver arrowtips while removing the broken shafts.

Esha speaks "Ritz....the sacrifice may be a giving up more on my part...however if this thing is done..Goddess willing as I can not abide this abomination....even an accidental one...the sacrifice may be taking on a...challenge" As she speaks she looks down smiling at Auriel.

Esha's eyes snap with anger and the moon tattoo on her forhead once again glows. She goes swiftly up to Auran coming as close as possible...despite her usual reluctance to touch others. This is an obvious sign of her rage.

"You forget yourself Mage.." she spits venom at him. "The Witches of OOO have knowledge not know to others. You do not have full control over all of the arcane. If you wish to have help I suggest that you be willing to listen and I hope for us all that there is a sense of love and self-sacrifice in that arrogant heart of yours lest we all be doomed."

Esha suddenly steps back and fights for control over her unusual outburst. She looks to the young boy and her face softens. "I apologize Mage....but I can help. I am Witch. I can release the soul of the undead. But only if another soul is freely given...a person who has compassion for the creature...and above all whose love is stronger than their fear, than their repulsion....I fear to tell you Auran...I can not turn your wife back to human....but I can release her soul to the Gods as should have happened before your intervention....if you are also willing to shake loose your skin."

Druce wakes up finally. He feels as if he was hit over the head with a mallet.

"Ohh," he groans. "My head is killing me..." he sees Ritz picking up her broken arrows and removing the arrow heads. "Sorry about your arrows, Ritz," he says tenatively. He then looks up at Esha and Auren. Esha looks down at him with a solemn stare. Druce's semi-joyus moods evaporates in a moment.

"Oh," he says in a down-trodden tone. "What did I miss?"

He has a feeling that the answer isn't going to be good...

Auran stares at Esha.

"What do witches know of love? After your unholy matrimonial rites you decapitate your husbands and take what pleasure you can in the brothels of Selma and Memtuz. Oh yes, I know your customs. I have loved Damiel ever since I first met her thousands of years ago. We lived in El Rhun until they threw women out and we sailed away to Levdia and then on to here. Had I not loved her and realised my unlucky part in her - tragedy - I could have left her to her fate. I will never do that. But if we could release her from her torment then we would do so almost at whatever cost."

Auriel looks at Esha. "My mother will die?"

Esha pointedly ignored Auran's comments on The Witches. Honestly one of the reasons she voluteered for this quest was the very thing of which he spoke. But she would not admit that to a mage.

She then thought of what he said..he had loved his wife a thousand years...and she looked down at the seemingly young boy. She began to wonder just how old he was...mages and practicioners of magik often lead long lives...

Esha then sat down on the floor beside Auriel. She smiles at him and then whispers a small spell to call to her a mouse. The mouse came running into her had. It was furry and black with a cute pink nose and overly large ears. It sat up on its hind legs in her hand and stared at the boy.

"Would you like to pet my friend Auriel? He says his name is Tips."

As the boy looked at the mouse she asked in a comforting voice, "Do you understand what has happened to your Mother?"
