The Master Of Zooz

The boy tickles the mouse.

"My mother is only my mother by day. At night she is a monster. She does not remember but she knows. She has not smiled for a long, long time. If she could be saved, she would want to be saved even if it meant dying. I would want her to be happy. I don't ever remember seeing her happy."

Auran softens as he watches his lonely son playing with a living creature.

"So, witch, what is this cure you think may work to save Damiel?"

Druce watchs the fiasco ensue. There had to be some alternative to killing Auran. If that happened, then who would take care of the poor child?

Druce looks up at Auran and interjects his thoughts before Esha can speak.

"Erm, perhaps there is an alternative," he says. "Perhaps there is something in your laboratory or garden you could use. So far you've been trying to reverse the effects of death, when you maybe should have been doing the exact opposite..."

Esha looks at Druce..."Has the mage not said he has exhausted all possibilities? I am Witch. I know what must be done. This is why I said a sacrifice must also be made by us...I would not leave things..." Esha then looks at Auriel playing with the mouse I would not leave things."

Esha then spoke to Auran. "We must discuss this...as the final decision must be yours."

Ritz finishes up gathering the arrowheads, she walks towards the others and says;"I guess it's time to discuss what happens next. Shall we head to the kitchen for a talk? Damiel probably should be there with us aswell, considering that the decision that's going to be made is about her."

She thinks to herself;*Whatever the decision may be, it most likely will be a little heavy for Auriel. I'm really interested in what Esha proposes we'll do as it'll have a large impact on what happens next. Witchraft and magecraft really are different variants and both have highly different methods, this will be an interesting event for me to observe.*

Auran waits for Esha to explain what she knows.

In the meantime he says to Druce,

"I am sure that there may be many other uses to which the herbs in my garden may be put. The numbers of potential combination of ingredients is mind-boggling. But if there is any potential help for Damiel then it has never been discovered even in the City of El Rhun. A Lichdame can be destroyed utterly but it takes far more power than I have. But I do not want that fate to befall. I research and hope to find a way in which she can be allowed to die and join the other essences in the Realm of the Dead. All three of us accept that she should not continue as she is."

When Esha remains silent Auran says to Druce.

"If there is a particular potion you are thinking of making I may be able to tell you which ingredients to try. Although I specialise in Death magic I have a smattering of more general knowledge."

To Ritz he adds, "they can make poisons for arrow heads too."

Esha walks over to Auran and lays her hand over his heart...

"I can send your wife unto the Beautiful Realm...but you must go with her...and if we do this thing we must be ready before sunset. I will need to trap the lichdame in a circle with you and I....and then it can be done. It is dangerous to us....very likely deadly for me...and you must willingly shake off your skin with nothing but love and light in your heart."

She then turns to the companions...."If I survive I am willing to care for the boy Auran....are you willing to do this. I do not think AUran could go not knowing his son was to be made safe."

She turns back to Auran, "Since you know of the Witches practices you know we do not keep boy children...they live at age 3 with their Father's tribe....I have looked into the faces of these boys and know not how they are given away...I would cherish him beyond measure."

Druce looks at Esha, and say to her, "I would like to speak with Auran before this takes place." He then asks Auran, "What do you know about invisibility? It appears that in my study of this form of magic, it seems almost as if it is a form of transfiguration... And I assume you know a bit about that..." he says tenatively.

Seeing Aurans confused look, Druce adds, "You said that anything that comes out of this castle is considered cursed by the villagers. We will need to get out safely, and there is no way we will be able to fight off a whole village."

Auran stares at Esha.

"If what you say is true I would have no qualm about dying with Damiel but there are issues to be considered. Firstly, you say you would cherish Auriel but does he wish to be cherished? And if you die in the 'experiment' as well as Damiel and I would these others be willing to look after him? And then how do you plan to escape from here? If you step outside the walls the villagers will kill you on sight. Auriel is not immortal."

He glances back into the room where Damiel fled.

"We need to think it through. I will talk to Damiel and Auriel. You should ask your companions their views. If in the end we decide to take the risk there may be additional knowledge of magic I can impart to them. But you surely do not need to make us do it all today. If you stay in your rooms at night Damiel wanders the old tunnels starving and despairing but posing no risk to anyone. Be sure you have asked everything you need to ask before we make any final moves."

"If Esha dies, I can take care of the boy. I've come to like the kid a bit and no matter what happens, I'll protect him should the need arise.";Ritz says in a calm voice and then adds;"It'll all be up to the kid himself though and as far as I can see, we'll all be travelling together for a while." She gives of a small smile, first time to be seen by the others.

(OT>Been playing Gears of War 2 co-op at a friends place, we're both kind of addicted, so that's why I haven't even logged on for the past two days.:D)

Auran nods, taking in Ritz's assertion but still waits to hear from Esha what has to be done.

Again he says, "Would you ask anything about the plants in the garden before it is too late? Auriel knows little of them."
