Malchik Posted January 24, 2007 Author Share Posted January 24, 2007 You return to the lodgings for a quick change before Kalmer, T'skar and Face head back to the Ranee's 'at home'. Face tells you that someone has followed you but that as long as you say the Desai family are friends, that will count in your favour. Kalmer (but not Face) is allowed into the party. No one attacks the lodgings but a very powerful fighter knocks at the door and asks to speak to Ani. A girl of the household waits to know if Ani will speak to him. At the party, you recognise hardly anyone. Sagrami is not there and the Ranee is surrounded by people you do not know. It seems to be up to you to make an approach to one of the guests. As you look, you see several people are 'free'. The choice, apart from interrupting the Ranee (a possibility) appears to be, the girl who spoke to Aldhelm, Tiax's admirer and a man with bright green hair. "If you believe that you can allow these to hold the force of your time magic, be my guest. These were simple herbs, I do not know how conducive they will be to holding enchantment. After you are done here, I have some questions about your time magic for you as well. What allows this magic at all? They go through the motions of making their lotions, avoiding commotions and such silly notions as draining the oceans when fixing the potions. Ask your questions to Tiax. On topic. The man who has come to see Ani only knows his name because he heard one of the others address him. He has been sent by the father of the family whose flunkey accosted him at the beach. The man is intending to take his family to Veejani to visit his elderly father and is looking for a strong bodyguard to supplement his existing force. They are going first to the family home in Pellaret in three days' time. The wage offered is very large indeed. The girl gives the Lady Taskara a short and insincere smile. "Would he wish to live in Jangli? I wanted some sort of protection from the sun. My husband is particularly sensitive. It is why he is not here with me." Kalmer seems to have heard Aldhelm and approached the green haired man with a similar question. The response is not very enlightening. The man's educated and fruity voice carries across the whole room. "Complacent buggers, what! Have to shake them up fro time to time. Hrmph!" Leaving quite a mess for the overall tidy mage."Ah found it, hart leaves should enhance the potion well enough."Tiax mixes two leaves of hart with the potions. He stands up and casts runes across the room and draws a magic circle using his staff.The entire room now faintly glows blue and as Tiax chants the runes and, especially the circle, start to glow intenser. Chanting (in roman like language): "Rushing trough the body, cleansing the soul. Restoring fatigue and rewinding time. Bless the potion, bless the soul. Leave the mind untouched." All the light from the room blue or natural focussus in two swirling clouds and rush towards the potions, ending in a bright flash. Tiax breathes heavely, the runes are gone, just as the circle and the potions seem unchanged."Ofcourse the trials I made before where less flashy, but this should do it." Puting away everything he used tidying everything he puts the potions in his potion belt. "We have a little time but the enchantment 'swallowed' a bit of time in this room. You had questions about my magic?" (OOC -> I hope I did this well.. And for what I meant with 'swallowed' it means it's actually later in the day then the time that passed by. "As I said, we Tagfierian mages have learned to stop time's process on our bodies, my mentor is several hundred years old and looks much the same age as I. However, actually altering time to go backwards and forwards is something quite beyond our knowledge. What do the hart leaves do that allows this and when the time is "swallowed" is it put into the potion? And can you not purchase some hart leaves at the stalls we visited earlier?" The people with knowledge of their existence are those who pay particular attention to the news stories (e.g. the woman in the office of the Kolokon newspaper) or those in positions of power who have a duty to find out. As such there may (or may not) be an ulterior motive in trying to lure you away from the Lady Taskara. BTW none of the party knows how they reached Bashkher and as yet you have not discovered how to leave. On topic The man who has come to see Ani advises that he believes the position offered could become a permanent one if his employer finds Ani's work satisfactory. The journey to Pellaret will take three weeks and then it is two more to Veejani. There will be a week's break in Pellaret between the trips. His employer is not expected to stay in Veejani for more than a few days but after that he will be needed in Pellaret for several months. The girl sighs. "My husband is the Governor of Jangli. He has little time to relax. I think his reason for not coming could be merely an excuse. But everyone should rest from time to time. I wanted to have that protective cream to call his bluff. I could pretend I suppose but he is hard to lie to. If it had genuinely come from a court mage of Kolokon..." The green haired man stares at Kalmer wanting to see the effect of his pronouncement.
