At the party.

Arminder looks at Lady Taskara with more interest.

"Have you had voices in Kolokon? Did you send someone to investigate? What did they discover?"

In the Hotel

(Posted for Mr Anderson by request)

Tiax has approached the alchemist to see if he has heart leaves. The man has ten for sale at 1 nipin per leaf. It is not an unreasonable price given their rarity.

To the newcomer the alchemist gives a guarded look. "I know of the plant but we do not have it in Ippikander. I believe the only place you can get any are in Papred. I have a few other poisons."

Tiax nudges Aldhelm, muttering that it was strange for another to be seeking the Avelysse.

Addressing the alchemist, " I would like to know which of these plants would possess curative powers for the removal of poison and disease. I would also like to know which curative ingredients might be used to speed the healing of wounds. I am unfamiliar with the local f laura."

Addressing the man, "Sir, I do not know how much alchemy you have studied but I know that Avelys is extremely delicate and difficult to work with without risking your own life. I have some poisons not common to the area if what you need is something for killing an adapted pest, or that is 1 adapted to standard poisons."

"It's not so much that I have need of it as it is that I was instructed to ask about it. Don't really know why, but I suppose it has something to do with my being sent halfway around the world to meet up with a group of adventurers...Say, you wouldn't happen to know of such a group in town, would you?"

(OOC edit: Realized I didn't specify, but this is said to Aldhelm)

Seeing Lady Taskara deep in conversation with Arminda Sagrami, Kalmer decides to take a look at the Beach Palace Hotel. It may have a wealthy clientele some of whom can be tapped for information. The other people at Arminda's party are simply too arrogant for him. As he enters the hotel he sees Aldhelm, Tiax and Ani entering the alchemist's shop and follows them in. He is in time to hear the alchemist's reply to Aldhelm.

"The leaves of the ogier tree are of great use in healing wounds and calming symptoms of disease such as sweating and fever. They are inexpensive as they are common throughout this region. 4 finni will buy you ten leaves. You may need two or occasionally three crushed in a little warm water. The curing of disease and poison will, I'm afraid, depend on what disease or what poison you are talking about. I have ipecac, witch hazel, arnica, jasmine, frangipane, licorice, camomile, asphodel, ginger, cloves, cinnemon and almond essence all of which may help. The poteen is a very powerful alcoholic draft that can be used to numb pain. There is also an intoxicant made from root vegetables that has a similar effect. I have a lozenge made from a combination of the aforementioned ingredients dried and crushed together that is supposed to help guard against disease. It is hard to say how effective it is. That is rather expensive. I nipin for one lozenge and you need to take them daily. If you intend to handle the avelysse you need an antidote concocted from the leaves of the plant and the blood of a humming bird. I do not stock it. I think also you need to have taken it for some time before it is fully effective."

A sharp (yet inconspicuous) jab in the ribs silences the dark-haired newcomer, and leaves him somewhat bewildered as to where it came from. "Ha hah, that's a good one, Sir!" Exclaims Kalmer in a jocular fashion. "Groups of adventurers, you say? Well, they've come to the right place if they want to go unnoticed - there are more tourists in Ippikander than locals! Come, walk with me!" He gives the man a piercing, shut up and come with me look, and gently but firmly ushers him out of the shop. Aldhelm, Tiax and Áni seem to get the idea, and carry on as before.

Once outside, Kalmer apologises for his manner, and explains that he did not want to attract unwanted attention to themselves, nor indeed to the geographical procedence of the new arrival. "Who sent you, friend? Was it Bharat? What is your name, and where are you from?"

(Note: My earlier comment was addressed to Aldhelm. Neglected to mention that when I posted, and it seems my edit occurred after you posted.)

"Yes, I was sent by Bharat. I'm Kyto Inigo, and I'm from Niyobi. As for how I got to Bashker, I'm not entirely sure. And you are?..."

"I am Kalmer Naowen of Tagfier. Almost one year ago we were brought here to Bashkher as you have been, and were charged with a quest by Bharat Desani. We have travelled far, and yet I fear our quest is far from over. We have since lost companions and gained others. Of our original group only T'Skar, Tiax and I remain, so we welcome newcomers - as long as they can prove their good intentions. That you have been sent by Bharat is endorsement enough. It appears one recent arrival, Aldhelm, was also brought here, but for a different purpose, and all his companions would seem to have been lost. We have mutually agreed to help each other in our respective quests, which curiously seem to be intertwined at some points.

"Forgive my abrupt entry and coarse action, but the people of this world know nothing of our procedence - nor even of the existence of other countries. To much curiosity is not a good thing. There are too few who can help us, and even fewer whom we can trust. Tell me of your abilities and persuasion, friend."

"My training is as an archer and scout. I have some knowledge of tracking, as well as cold-weather survival...although from the look of this city, that may not be all that useful. Additionally, I can assume the form of an animal smaller than myself, which can certainly help for observing unnoticed."
