The Master Of Zooz

Watching rather curiously, in just a few minutes after the newcomers question, Kalmer enters and "escorts" the newcomer from the room. Turning to Ani, "Thank you for being ready to defend us. You make quite a good bodyguard."

Turning back to the aged alchemist, "I think we shall purchase the hart leaves, given their rarity. I would also like to purchase thirty or forty ogier leaves if you have them. If I brew the potions will they last indefinitely or will I have to keep the leaves around and only brew it before it is needed? For poisons, can you prepare a sampling of some of the more common and less expensive antidotes? How much does poteen cost? I hope the lozenge does not become necessary. I hope not to encounter the Avelys, but thank you for this information."

Hoping that he hasn't asked for more than he is able to pay for, Aldhelm pulls out his purse to pay the alchemist.

The alchemist gives the 40 ogier leaves, commenting that the potions can be prepared in advance. He hands over a selection of ten potions that are a variety of poison antidotes. They are common poisons and so the antidotes are relatively inexpensive (2 nipin for the 10). They are labelled; insect, lizard, snake, ivy, foxglove, yew, nightshade, laurel, laburnum and toadstool presumably the source of the poison for which they are an antidote. The only heart leaves he had have gone to Tiax. Poteen costs 3 nipin for a large earthenware jug. Total cost of purchases are 6 nipin and 40 finni.

As everyone is now close to the Lady Taskara, still being waited for by Face, it could be as well for Kalmer to collect her and see if she needs any help. They can then walk back together.

"Then we are in company, friend!" Says Kalmer, lightening up a little. "I, too, am an archer and tracker, though I am more at home in arid climes than in the cold. Well met!" He turns as the other come out of the shop. "Come, fellows. We should head back to the Ranee's place and pick up 'Lady Taskara'."

As they near the Ranee's party, Kalmer once again adopts his 'Prime Courtier' gait, and bows courteously to those at the entrance as he goes in to find T'Skar. The others of course have to wait outside. "I will not be long."

Aldhelm had been rather unused to all the currency Bharat had given him and is relieved that he had enough to cover the purchase and still have an almost full purse. He gathers up his purchases and arranges them in his satchel before thanking the old alchemist and following Kalmer and his new friend back towards T'Skar.

When he reaches the gate, he decides to introduce himself to the man whom had entered the alchemy shop earlier. "Hello, sorry for the rather rude introductions. Our quest is being monitored from all sides we fear and we have to be sure whose side you were on. My name is Aldhelm, I am an Mage of Fire and an alchemist. I ran into this group through rather odd circumstances myself, so we have something in common. But I am yammering on too much, what is your name, friend?"

(occ> look what happens when you miss a few days: ACTIVITY glad to have you all here :) )

ic> T'skar looks at the Lady Arminda appraisingly, "Voices in Kolokon? No, we have had no voices in the Temple there ... but you may know that the statues from there have been moved to here? I ask of the statues because we do have information that they may be the cause of the voices, in fact one in my retinue has looked into strange occurances at some of the other ancient temples in Bashkher. If you would like, we could investigate these things, and bring you a report. Of course, we would need access to the lower levels of the Temple here." T'skar waits for a reply, churning inside but outwardly calm and uncaring.

"I figured something of the sort from the abrupt switch your friend Kalmer showed...My name is Kyto Inigo. As I told Kalmer, I was sent by Bharat. A few days after I found myself in Bashker, I overheard someone talking about the problems in Ooo. As it seemed as though there might be some similarity to what's been going on in Niyobi, that is, an odd problem with no apparent cause, I decided it might be worth finding out more. With luck, solving this problem may give some insight into Niyobi's."

"And, as you can see, that resulted in me being sent here to join up with you. I have some idea as to your progress up to your arrival in Golconar, but you'll need to fill me in on what's happened from there on. That would best be done once everyone's together, I suppose. Bharat did mention he sent someone to rendezvous in Kolokon, which, it would seem, was you."

Áni stood at the back of the group, having already assumed the role of the intimidating bodyguard. He looked a little disinterested, glancing at the door and evaluating the security of the building. Áni caught the stronger of the two guards at the door looking him over, and engaged in a staring contest with him. Nothing would come of it, but Áni was interested in testing the will of Armindas guards.

Arminda looks at the Lady Taskara.

"I can get you into the temple to investigate for me, but surely you do not go yourself? You have lackeys? Useless wretches mostly, I know. I probably kill half of mine for stupidity but useful as grunts. I would however like first to discuss your age. I heard someone mention you were - I know it sounds ludicrous - but over one hundred years old. I am assuming it is nonsense but if it is not....?"

It seems as if the right answer may well produce the solution you need.

Kalmer has just re-entered the party.

Aldhelm turns to Kyto, " Nice to meet you, Kyto. As for the one that Bharat sent, I believe that it was Ani whom you refer to. You see, friend, I was traveling with another group on a different quest and suddenly seemed to have been teleported here. I do not think Bharat though powerful, could have done this from such a distance. Either I was being observed or some higher plane being decided that I might have a bit better luck with this group. It was a little disorienting but this group accepted me quite well. While we are waiting for those in the party, would you care to join me for a drink back at our lodgings?"
