The Master Of Zooz

Kalmer knowingly pats the hilt of his concealed sword, smiling wrily. "As a great man once said, there's no time like the present. Our priorities are illumination and defense, but we should also take precautions so as not to be followed or detected once inside. I will lay a simple trap outside the gate, which T'Skar will imbue with a small amount of Mind Magic. If triggered, the interlopers will be none the wiser, but T'Skar will be instantly alerted to their presence."

He turns to T'Skar. "I feel that stealth and precaution should go ahead, while strength and precaution bring up the rear. While you are better suited than I to indoor trap detection, my heightened senses may be put to better use at the forefront, while Áni remains vigilant at the rear. These are my thoughts, though I am open to change or disuasion."

Face is happy to get torches or other forms of illumination for you. He suggests candle lanterns that can safely be put on the floor if hands are needed for weapons but gets a mix.

OOC> The person you 'hope' to meet here is Costanta. She has met one of you only before. When you enter the tunnel you will initially be obliged to walk in single file so Aldhelm ought to be towards the front.

Currently I have the sense that you are proposing this alignment. Please adjust after your discussion.

1. T'skar

2. Kalmer

3. Aldhelm

4. Baba

5. Tiax

6. Kyto

7. Ani

Turning to T'Skar, " I do possess Fire Magic, but I also possess something that no one else in the group does, T'Skar. A knowledge of WHO we might find in this temple and what they will want to tell us about. My previous encounters in these temples have told me much about Ruhir, the man who has caused all these people to be here. The "guests" I have encountered have tended not to be hostile if we can explain ourselves. And who better to explain about Ruhir than I? "

Okay. You are now outside the entrance to the passage that leads to the lowest level of the temple.

OOC> It would help me to have confirmation on who is at the front and the rear.

The guards check your authorisation and look at you bemused. The passage inside is rough-hewn, showing signs of hasty construction. It is very narrow and dark. As soon as the door closes behind you Alhelm hears Costanta's voice in his head.

"What there is of me is waiting in the ossuary. Be warned. When you enter the ossuary a door will close with you inside. Anyone left outside will die instantly. When you wish to leave you must answer a difficult riddle. You have one attempt and a wrong answer brings death. There is an alternative. When the tunnel you are in approaches the temple it forms a complete circle around it. Six side passages lead off towards the ossuary but only one leads into it. The others lead to traps and tests but also to five coloured segments which can be used to open the door in the ossuary. I do not know the riddle you will be asked but if you wish to try your luck turn to the right at the end of your tunnel and take the second passageway on the left. If you prefer to get the key, stay out of that tunnel until you have all five sections."

No one else hears this.

Áni sighs as he moves to cover the rear of the party. It seemed like he was the only one who's weapons had been confiscated at the gate. All he had was a sharp knife and his hands to use in combat. Clearing his mind, Áni prepared himself for battle.

Tiax made sure he was in the right position and observed the group. Baba tapped the floor with his staff and had a contend look on his face, Tiax could've sworn he felt magic emitting from where Baba's staff hit the ground, spreading outwards.

Áni seems a bit dissapointed by his rear job but does as he's told, the rest are already in their proper postitions but still talking about the approach.

"Candles will improve our vision, however they will also make it easier for unwated ones to see us. Who can cast some sort of night vision spell? That will aid in our stealth and removes the usefullness of candles or other things of that kind."

OOC> Sorry for taking so long, the next week and then finals right afterwards have been keeping me rather busy (OK really busy) I will try and get on to post more

Hearing Costanta's voice, Aldhelm looks around but quickly realizes he is the only one hearing it. After hearing the full instructions, he turns to T'Skar and Kalmer, but before he says anything he hears Tiax's request for light. Letting a small flame leap from the stone on top of his staff he magically enhances the light it provides to spread for the whole group.

"Tiax, you brought up a point I was about to ask everyone about. I told you all I have encountered these temple dwellers before, and have just been "visited" the the spirit who is currently occupying the ossuary. She has warned me of upcoming danger, it is not beasts we must worry about but the ossuary itself. It is apparently guarded by powerful and dangerous magics controlled by riddles in which failure will result in a quick and painful death. However she alerted me of a second option for protecting ourselves from these magics. The tunnel we are in will have six branches up ahead, only one leading to the ossuary. The others will contains puzzles and challenges and colored pieces of some kind. These pieces will provide us protection while in the ossuary. However, if we wish to proceed directly to the ossuary and test out wits with the riddle this is also an option. I have encountered the magics of the temples before and so far none of them have proved deadly, as she warned me this riddle is. I suggest the 5 puzzles would probably be safer even if they are more time consuming. I will let the group decide."

"Well if we need to solve riddles I'll be happy to but just in case, can we walk out on a riddle to get the protection or do we need to finish it directly after we started it?"

Tiax asked, tying to picture more scenarios and possible solutions.
