I noticed you didn't have the Unofficial Oblivion Patch in your list, or any of the other unofficial patches. I don't know, but maybe they're worth a try.

The "Flickering" you are describing occurs when two meshes are in the same place. This is most common on seams that overlap, and the way that Oblivion deals with it is very annoying.

It sounds to me like you have two different hair meshes arguing with each other.

By the way, the yellow diamonds are an indication that you aremissing a mesh. Sometimes modders forget to include one, but it is far more common that players don't install the whole mod properly.

Try using Refscope http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21862 to help you determine what mod is causing them.

Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul is not compatible with UOP so i didn't try that yet...

davidbudreck how could i fix that? I have no idea how any of my mods could interfere with hair meshes :-S

Where did you get the idea OOO is not compatible with the Unofficial Patches? I use all of those plus many more with no issues.

The UOP and UOP-SI if you have Shivering Isles are both highly recommended for many reasons besides fixing bugs in the vanilla game.

The problem may lie with load order which you haven't supplied.

Much more common indeed. The missing mesh markers you have in your screen shot are indicative of not installing a mod correctly and since OOO alters guards it's possible this is the problem. Co-incidentally, the missing mesh symbol is right where a guard would be standing...

It may relate to the hair issue as well since there doesn't seem to be anything else in your list that should affect hair.

I'm not familiar with this mod - Ethereal Armor - Imperial Legion Edition but it seems to me that's going to conflict with OOO's guard changes. Even if you have it loaded after OOO, you need a Bashed Patch to resolve some of these issues.

I would suggest you re-install OOO and the use Unofficial Patches. Make sure to read the readme's for both thoroughly. The UOP must be loaded directly after any other ESM besides Oblivion ESM or the changes it makes won't happen as they should.

You don't mention if you use Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) which is essential when using overhaul mods and others that need to be loaded in a certain order. It would also be beneficial for you to download Wrye Bash and learn to make a Bashed Patch which can also help sort out your graphics issue among many other things. It just takes a little patience to read and understand the docs.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok, right, I'm now downloading the Unofficial Patch and i've solved the exclamation mark-problem by

haha, obviously placing all the OOO folders into the Data folder...

But the blue hair texture flickering remains...

It even remains with all mods disactivated!

But that's not all unfortunately:

I wasn't able to activate any of the OOO quests so far..for example the skyrim bandits quest...

reading the letter on the bruma-gate walls shoul activate it - but nothing happens...

i've already cleaned the hidden camp at the ayleid ruin "Sedor" before first reading one of the letters - before even nowing there war a skyrim bandit quest, i just wondered about those gorgeous arctic armor, skyrim and wolf clan shield...

So would you help me with all that stuff please?

Flickering hair, NPCs not speaking, quests not being activated...

the load order of the mods currently activated is:

Oblivion.esm

All Natural Base.esm

Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp

dyeso_Leichtere_Zutaten_und_Apparaturen (lighter ingredients)

Denock Arrows (which obviously doesn't work)

MoreArenaSpectators

TF_timemod-1-1

No psychic guards v1.2

Evantal's Dual Wielding

AFLevelMod

Ethereal - Armor Imperial Legion

VA_Better Gold

Most OOO quests are not as linear as the Vanilla quests. They are designed to play out as you explore the world. The Bandit Clans is probably the shortest of it's quests, so that is a bad example, but Slavers & Smugglers, for instance, can unfold in different ways depending on what you do.

None of OOO's quests point you where you need to go most of the time; that is NOT what they are about.

Again, flickering textures means that two meshes are arguing over the same space. Look through the archives of the mods you have installed for \data\meshes\characters\whatever. There is no requirement for having a subfolder called hair, so some mods do; others don't. You just have to look through them yourself.
