Changing Where in the game you start

I have no idea, I don't want to know either...

 

 

 

 

The Vault 101 thing is a quest, which is named Escape...

 

 

Mod that quest, or null it I guess, an make a new one, something like that.

 

 

 

They call it alternate start, which you could go look on the Nexus for a alternate start.

 

 

Then use FO3edit an GECK to see how they did it, or maybe just make a few edits to it

 

then you have your version of it.

 

 

 

 

 

I know that when you exit 101, that a whole bunch of scripts are starting, which might be a problem

 

All the DLC stuff starts when you exit 101, I don't know if it would if you didn't do that quest.

 

who knows such things?

Have you taken a look at the alternate start mods?

 

 

Have you tried one of them?

 

 

Besides comming up with the idea.

 

 

Is there anything else you've done as footwork.

 

 

I mean besides throw out a line here with bait, hoping theres a chance that

 

someone that knows how to do this will show up, and even then say something.

But if you wanted a first step

 

 

taking a look at what's already been done

 

 

 

as in a mod already created, where all the foot work is pretty much there.

 

 

 

I mean the big elephant in the room

 

 

the Escape quest, which you know also starts all kinds of mods an other things.

 

 

 

If someone has bypassed that, then trying it out couldn't hurt, or even looking at it.

 

 

 

 

 

The only reason I'm even talking is because there's just not a very good chance that someone that even knows how to begin

 

to do this, would reply.

 

 

 

 

If you want a answer then it's pretty simple.

 

 

 

Learn how to write Scripts, I think they're writen in A++ computer code.

 

but the ones I've seen have never really been over 1000 bits or bytes (can't tell)

 

 

 

Stuff like a script that would, (at the launch of a new game)

 

 

automaticly end the Escape quest, setting all goals to finished or whatever, and then

 

transport the player to somewhere else in the wasteland, probably inside a cell

 

which you have created NPC's an the building stuff, then props, dialog, loot,

 

which has some other type quest or hey maybe not any of this.

 

 

Maybe just auto finish the escape quest an transport you somewhere in the wasteland.

 

 

 

Bam you just wake up.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Idk it gets more complex, because of the MQ, most of the Main quest has to do with your father an stuff

 

 

but you know most of it after the first few days isn't so much based of Vault 101 stuff

 

which that's just kind of like a shotgun blast, you know little bits here an there which might cause the alternate start

 

to seem a bit wierd, but don't ask me I haven't even finished it.

 

 

 

 

Heck you could make a start where you start inside one of the DLC's

 

 

broken steel might mess up the XP though later on, that's just a rumor anyway...

 

 

 

The start is just a quest.

 

 

 

Once you look at it like that, then there should be plenty on the geck site about quests.

 

 

The game start has scripts, so you'll end up having to mess with that, somehow...

of course I have done this already

 

but if SOMEONE (not saying you) can walk me through how to do this it would be VERY VERY appreciated (credits list too, when mod is done).

 

I know it's a huge headache colliding process and all but.... I just wanna get this done with.

 

It's a big essential needed in my mod.

Tell me how to change where the game starts.

 

 

 

Then while you're waiting for the idiot chance that someone that even knows how to do that

 

drops by an even has time to type out the process of how to do it, you can get to work on figuring out how yourself.

 

which could happen, someone might drop by, it's not likely, but it could happen

 

and over time they might check back in and pretty soon it's a real thread

 

which would tell you how to do it

 

 

 

Some people talk like the Scripts can be writen like commands in GECK, which would get rid of the A++ thing

 

I just saw someone talking about it.

 

 

 

 

 

Are you afraid of failing, you want the mod to work right or something.

 

 

Idk I just think you could gain more if you just figured it out.

 

It's not like any tool you would use to do it doesn't have instructions.

 

 

 

 

 

What tools have you used, are you good at anything yet?

 

 

There's a whole lot you could work into a new start.
