Thalassicus
I made the mistake of downloading and using some architectural static resources for my map, thinking it'd be that simple. When I reloaded the map the placed objects had all disappeared, and I'm wondering, are they saved into the map file at all (and just not showing up) or does the editor simply ignore files from other esp's when saving, without warning the user that work won't be saved? If it's the first case, is there any way I might be able to recover my work? On a related note, I tried to merge the architectural mod into my existing map using tes4gecko, but the merge tool simply throws unhandled exception errors when used. Google searches didn't come up with any answers of what the cause might be, if anyone knows? My Java runtime environment is up to date, version 1.6.07. Thalassicus
Yes, I read that a few months ago, and it's not related to this problem (not altering content from another mod). After an afternoon of trying things out, I discovered it's an issue with load orders, and the editor does save properly, but doesn't load correctly and (as typical) doesn't warn the user there's a problem. I still don't know why tes4gecko throws unhandled exceptions, if anyone knows of that issue with the program... searches have come up with no useful information. David Brasher
Tes4gecko is good at generating error messages and boasting about all the things it can do that it can't actually do. If you are having problems, you are not the only one, and chances are, you are not doing anything wrong to cause the problems. I am not sure I understand what your problem is. By "map" do you mean the regional map or local map you use for navigating? Or do you mean the image in the render window of a cell you are modding? To graft parts of one mod on to another, you must change the names of the items in the passive mod so they will have a new name and form ID in the active mod. If at some point you are not sure you are succeeding in transferring content from mod to mod, load the data for your active mod all alone with no passive mods and look to see if your new objects are there. You don't want to go too far and lose too much work without inspecting to see that your procedure is working.
