spyro1201
Welcome to the RP thread of Forlorn Contingencies. Discussion thread is here. * * * Ah, the beauty of the clear night sky. The numerous stars twinkling across the dark void. The occasional nebula that made the sky look like an abstract artist's canvas. The serenity and peace. One would only be able to hear the occasional forest critter scuttle along in the bushes, or an owl's "Hoot". It's almost like a dream... "Wait a minute..." Shadow immediately sat up. "Wasn't I just going to bed at the Gottshaw Inn?... Oh gods, I hope I..." - The argonian said to himself while quickly checking for his belongings. Nothing was missing, surprisingly. - "Phew..." - he sighed with relief. - "...for a minute, I thought I was kidnapped by bandits or something. Now... uh... where the hell am I?" Shadow inspected his surroundings, nothing familiar. Not even the White-Gold Tower. "Wait a minute...where are Masser and Secunda!?" - said Shadow, half scared, whilst taking a second look around the landscape and noticing the absence of Nirn's two moons. - "I get the feeling I'm not in Cyrodil anymore, or Nirn for that matter..." - he continued with a sigh. Afterwards Shadow began walking in a random direction, hoping this forest he's in isn't as thick as it seems, and that he'll find civilization soon. Flipout6
Scuttles' eye shot open, and then immediately slammed shut again, blinded by a great light. He almost let a screech out, but restrained himself. Whatever it was, if he didn't know what it was, it was best to stay inconspicuous. Staying absolutely still, Scuttles didn't move for several minutes. Nothing happened, he heard nothing except....some kind of odd chittering in the background. It was vaguely familiar. Slowly, Scuttles cracked his eyes open again. It was pretty bright out, but nothing that the glowing fungus in the deep caves didn't create. Slowly, he opened his eyes more until they adjusted to the light. He saw strange plants and the ground was incredibly soft and mushy. Alarmed, he jumped to his feet, holding himself up on his back-spines and then settling his webbed feet into the mush that was the ground. Looking around wildly, all Scuttles saw as far as his eyes could see was the same mushy ground, plants, and strange-looking rocks stretching towards a ceiling so high Scuttles couldn't even see it. Timidly, he climbed up one of these "rocks", and discovered that they weren't rocks at all but rather plants much like the ones he'd just woken up in. They weren't food but nor were they inherently dangerous...much like climbing rocks in his home. Tentatively, he looked around, listened for danger, looked for food. On one side of this plant-rock there was plenty of it, moss in-between the grooves on the exterior. At least he could eat. However, he was confused. This place was nowhere like anything he'd ever seen nor heard of. The Surface was a place no Scuttler dared nest near because of the predators that lived near there, how bright it got sometimes, and simple fear of the unknown. Could this be it? Where was he? Why was he here? These rudimentary thoughts ran around Scuttles' head as he gorged himself on moss, his massive tongue snaking in-between the tree bark to get even the most well-hidden spots. AurianaValoria1
"Oh, Great Mother, what a headache..." Quinn Thorndragon rubbed the back of her head as her eyes fluttered open. To her utter astonishment, it was nighttime. She could have sworn it was daytime just a few moments ago... She slowly raised up, brushing the dirt and leaves off of her form-fitting leathers and picking twigs out of her hair. Glancing around, she realized that her surroundings were completely unfamiliar. A moment of panic arrested her, and she stared wide-eyed at the darkness of the forest around her. "Where am I?"
Flipout6
Suddenly a new noise pierced the night. Or so it sounded to Scuttles' highly-tuned ears. Immediately his head turned to the direction of the sound and, in utter silence, Scuttles leaped to the next tree over, hooking a single back-spine to slow his impact before sticking to it with his webbed hands and feet. In this manner, he moved relatively quickly through the forest. Then the noise, whatever it was, sounded again. Slightly different this time, but still definitely from the same source. Locking right onto it, Scuttles hopped a few more trees until he found the source. And he had absolutely no idea what it was. Only that it was moving, brightly-colored enough to hurt his eyes if it caught the light from the ceiling. If he looked close enough, it looked like a very bright Scuttler with a deformed head. Deciding it prudent to investigate further, Scuttles inched closer, making as little noise as he possibly could, until he stood just behind and over-top this odd Scuttler's head, his feet and two back-spines making him look like he stood upright, but sideways. Then he stared at it again, regretting it instantly when a flash of light caught it and hurt his eyes again. Scuttles rubbed his eyes furiously, twitching. Whatever this was, it was like a Scuttler but not like a Scuttler and it confused and fascinated him. So, he sat/stood/stuck there and watched, utterly still, crouching against the tree and folding his arms inwards to appear less conspicuous while her back was turned. Thankfully, nothing he saw pointed to danger or predators, so he was fairly certain he would be okay.
AurianaValoria1
Quinn's breathing quickened and threatened to turn into hyperventilation. Where was she? She didn't recognize anything...no plants like these grew near her homeland. The closest kinds were miles upon miles to the west and north of her village. She couldn't have been taken all the way there somehow, could she? Could she? She ran her hands through her hair and tears welled in her eyes. "Oh, Great Mother...please, tell me this is a dream...just a horrible dream!" Then, suddenly, a horrid stench reached her nostrils. Something akin to rot and mould... She turned around and, hanging just slightly behind and above her was a horridly hideous creature that looked not unlike a spiny black spider. Quinn screamed in horror, backing away rapidly and turning to run. In her haste, her toe hooked under a tree root and she went falling face-first into the leaves and grass. Her hands hit the ground with a painful smack, but she ignored it as she flipped over and continued to scramble away, tears streaming down her cheeks. Flipout6
It was no more than five seconds of continued observation before Scuttles was spotted. He stayed completely frozen until a loud ear-splitting (especially for him) shriek made him let out a screech of fear in return. He scampered behind the tree in the blink of an eye and held on with all four back-spines and his arms and feet and peeked slowly out from behind the tree, shaking ever-so-slightly. Thinking fast, he tapped and scraped a Scuttler greeting onto the tree....quickly followed by the equivalent of "Wait up!" as this new creature began running away. When it tripped, Scuttles forgot about his hiding spot and rushed over to help, walking partially with the aid of his back-spines, unknowingly contributing to his distinctly arachnid appearance. Reaching it quickly, Scuttles towered over it and offered it his hand to help it up. Edited May 8, 2014 by Flipout6
spyro1201
Shadow had been waking for about 10 minutes now, no signs of the forest ending, or even a small clearing. This whole time he'd been holding his sword drawn. As peaceful as it was, the argonian felt uneasy, knowing he's a long way from home and possibly by himself as well. Suddenly Shadow heard what sounded like a cry for help from a woman. it wasn't far away either. So he's not alone afterall. Shadow made a quick dash in the general direction of the yell until he saw a female figure running in the distance. "Hey! Wait!" - he shouted, whilst running towards her. AurianaValoria1
Quinn screamed again when she saw the thing run at her, and she shut her eyes tightly, holding her hands over her head. After a few moments, when nothing happened, she opened one eye and saw it leaning over her with a webby...hand...extended to her. She blinked. Was it...actually trying to help her? At that moment, she glimpsed something - someone? - else coming towards her. Oh, Great Mother, what now?
Flipout6
Hearing the pounding of feet- something running - and a hissing, raspy sound very much like the predators from his home, Scuttles grabbed Quinn by the arm and hauled her up to her feet, then scuttled rapidly up the nearest tree and plopped her right up in the branches. Then he moved farther down the tree, stuck his webbed feet into the bark and extended his back-spines like branches. With his robe a greenish colour and simply hanging off him, he looked in the shadows to be just another part of the tree.
spyro1201
Shadow raced over to where Quinn was, just as some form of spider like creature approached her, followed by it grabbing her by the arm and going up in the trees. Upon getting closer he noticed that the creature was gone, but the woman was now up in the branches. "Hey!" - he shouted to Quinn, still keeping his guard up. - "Are you okay, up there? What in Akatosh's name was that...thing that grabbed you?" "That thing looked like some kind of mutated Land Dreugh!" - Shadow thought
