New to game, do you think I should play unmodded first?

or difficulty I stick with Adept. But then I add increased spawns, High Level Enemies and Skyrim Immersive Creatures and OBIS. This improves difficulty not by simply boosting enemy hp, damage, stamina, but rather increasing the amount of enemies and their capabilities.

huh i run high level enemies, OBIS, enemy ai overhaul and all that at legendary, but i find myself having to cheat occasionally especially during the early stages of the game, or exploit some holes. I think i'll switch back to adapt too and instead bump the spawns. maybe i'll switch it back up when i feel i'm starting to get OP. this is quite a good idea, one that i have overlooked

OP, there is a mod merge script for TES5Edit in Nexus. if you ever feel you have too many mods, get the script, check the thread with the mod merge user reports, and merge what you can. For follower mods, UFO, EFF, AFT pick one. I forget the exact name but there is one mod that gives MoreBrains.esp, which increases the AI limit in a cell so that when the cell is overpopulated you don't have bandits just standing around dumb.

Lastly, this one is a must (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/21062/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D21062%26preview%3D&pUp=1)

Without CoT it's hard to get a really dark night. With CoT, it just blackens out everything, so even if you have Chesko's lanterns on max it's hard to see. This will make it dark wthout having to cover your eyes with a black sheet. Use with this (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52239/?) to have NPCs have to use light sources to see too, because without it you'll be blind in dark but others won't, and this helps to change that.
