Invisible Clothing

Hi. I've installed Roberts male body replacer, and everything's fine - except that the clothes had disappeared! Like outfits (all of them), sack shirt and pants, and prisoners shirt, and so forth. It's just ruins my game, and I cannot play because my character is invisible!

Please help me!

Probably the first thing to do is post your load order.

Is that what Better Oblivion Sorting Software (BOSS) gets you? I would have expected MaleBodyReplacerV4.esp to have come much earlier in the line-up.

Try saving your load order (in case it gets worse) then running BOSS.bat. Or try putting MaleBodyReplacerV4.esp before boethia custom race.esp (unless it says not to in the custom race readme ;-).

em... I am a newbie, so can you tell me please how do I backup the load order?

You probably already have Oblivion mod manager installed - if you don't then install that first.

1. Start OBMM

2. Click 'import/export'

3. Select 'export load order' and select file name/location to store it.

Then try running BOSS.bat and generally mess around with load order. If stuff gets even worse then

1. Start OBMM

2. Click 'import/export'

3. Select 'import load order' and select the file you created earlier.

Other things that newbies will generally be better off for noting:

* Make sure you are running version 1.2.0416 (= with latest official patches installed).

* Install Unofficial Oblivion Patch and Unofficial Oblivion Patch Hotfix v323a

* If you have Shivering Isle then install Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch

* If you have any DLC mods then install Unofficial Official Mods Patch.

The unofficial patches should ideally be installed before installing any other mods.

If you ever have to re-install Oblivion (ick) then note the following

* It's best not to install to the default location (esp. in Windows Vista, Windows 7). Instead install to somewhere like C:\Games\Oblivion

* Take a backup of the Data folder after installing the official patches but before installing any mods.

Thank you, I'll try this... though I tried Boss and it didn't work. Ah, well, thanks anyway =)

Even if BOSS doesn't work you should still be able to shove MaleBodyReplacerV4.esp up the load order with OBMM.

Incidentally, I'm not an expert on this so do feel free to ask for help from others as well. (bben's guides are well worth reading in particular).

Oblivion.esm should always be the first entry in any load order. That is what the mods modify. Mods lower in the load order take precedence over those higher in the load order. So moving a mod down will make it more likely to work.

The Oblivion data list is NOT a load order, just a list of mods. To get a true load order, always use OBMM.

To save your load order using OBMM

Start OBMM - look on the right for Import/Export. Click on 'View Load Order'

When the load order list comes up, look at the top for the floppy disk symbol. When the save block comes up, give the load order a new name. You can also move it to another folder if you want to. I use 'Load Order-12-19-09-1 That is the name 'Load order', the current date, '12-19-09' and '-1' , in case I save more than one the same day.

You can also use the load order from here to post - highlight the entire list (or ctrl-A), right click and select 'copy' (or ctrl-c) that places the load order in your clipboard. Then go to the forum where you want to post the load order. Place your cursor where you want to put it and paste (or ctrl-V)

Ctrl-A selects All

Ctrl-C copies whatever is selected to clipboard

Ctrl-V Pastes from clipboard

This works with many things on computers, not just windows, on other operating systems as well.
