Uppermandible
I think it would be awesome to add some old timey firearms to the game. I'm thinking like cap and ball revolvers, or maybe a breech loading musket. Or even better; a rifle resembing a sharps 1863, wich can double as a polearm. 45-70 Gov't could go through brick walls, I'm sure it'll be fine for use against Daedra. Maybe a magic gun that uses soul gems as ammo? or a gun using paper cartridges with a magic gem to ignite the powder?
Marcus Wolfe
This isn't a bad idea at al. It's quite a good one! but there's going to be some problems.....the kind RTS designers refer to as 'balancing issues'.I picture some old school wooden pistols. They would be extremely expensive,as well as their ammo (pellets n'powder). It's a basically a one shotkill that take some time to reload. I also see muskets. They have alonger range, but are a little less accurate and take longer to reload. That is why they have bayonnets. Cannons and gattling guns? Maybe. Cannons would be far more likely in medival times, but both would have to be stationary and take obsenely long to reload due to 'balancing issues'. Fortunately, they would have more power and limitless ammo. PS. Balancing issues=including a feature without making the game too one sided 92% of teens have moved onto rap. SickleYield
Extreme difficulty of new animations + hardcoded weapons slots makes this very unlikely. See how awkward most crossbow mods are for examples.
Xersize
Look, I don't mean to be to negative, but guns in Oblivion? That's like putting lightsabres in Scrubs, for crying out loud! Now, I'm not saying that this mod shouldnt be done, just saying that if you are "crazy" enough to like the idea of this mod, then please, be my guest to make it. I just dont think that to many people will download it, that's all. Have a nice day.
spectreofreality
Extreme difficulty of new animations + hardcoded weapons slots makes this very unlikely. See how awkward most crossbow mods are for examples. ahhhhhhhhh i HATE those annoying "weapon slots" i wish that there was some way beth could have left an "open" slot that could be altered and played with to our hearts content. adding animations for the existing slots is possible but its a royal pain if you don't have the resources beth has. (which almost no one does) I've experimented with some new animations for a crossbow with some pretty coll-looking results. (just a lttle buggy, due to the fact that the anim. are sort of jerky.lol.i got lazy, it was like two in the morning and i didn't wanna mess with the IPO in blender anymore) wow now that i've gone massively off-topic i'll shut up now

Marcus Wolfe
New thoughts on the guns:1. No muskets. When muskets did exist, they were standard in the armies of Europe. Way after the middle ages. Around the time the Americas were discovered. And besides, they'd create balancing issues.2. Gattling guns are out for the count. Sorry, i know everybody wants to pump goblins with 60 round per second, but those things didn't show up until America revolted. And more balancing issues.3. Pistols plausible. They would be expensive, as mentioned earlier and would be one shot. You can't be just be BAM reload BAM reload BAM reload with those old things. It more like "oh **** that is a huge monster" BAM!!!! "Did i get him?" RAARGH!! "GAHH! I didn't completely kill him!" Take out normal weapon hit em he's dead "He almost sied on the first shot" YOU SEE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT?4. Canons may not be practical. Sure they're high on firepower, but their really just siege weapons. Although they would provide covering fire whilst rushing to an oblivion gate....5. Armed boats. Canons can make your pirating experience a blast....or it can sink you. ps did anybody read my first reply and if so why did you not reply to it? 92% of teens have moved onto rap. thejake1453
man guns could be cool if you do it right, like holding 2 flintlocks at the same time man that'd be coolor holding a pistol in one hand and a cutlass or sabre in the other, man tha would be cool. and howcome theres crossbows in morrowind and not oblivion? its the same with spears, i dont get that. what would be awsome would to have hold to pistols at once and have a sword sheathed at your side at the same time, so you could fire 2 shots at an enemy charging you and if they survive you could press a button, eg. right mouse button and your character would throw down his pistols, pull out the sword and you could charge in at the weakend enemy. man that would be cool. man, major maxillary you came up with one cool idea, muskets in oblivion, awsome
