Fast-Melee Mod

Hey guys.

 

Don't you find it strange (and annoying) that, in fallout 3, you can't hit some guy in the face with your gun if he's too close ?

 

Just imagine :

 

You're shooting at a raider. You manage to shoot in his rifle, and he drops him. He get to a corpse, find a baseball bat, and start running at you. Unfortunately, you have to reload and can't shoot him while he's trying to hit you.

 

What do you do ?

You get out your melee weapon and lose precious time, and get hit.

Or you finish your reloading, get your weapon jammed, and lose precious time, and get hit.

 

I'm asking you people to make a new mode which adds a third way to get out of this bad situation.

This choice is simple : destroy this turkey's skull with your own rifle's stock !

 

If you didn't understand it yet, I'm thinking about a mod which adds a new melee attack, which can be used with a hotkey, like in Halo or Call of duty.

Just push a key, and use your gun as a melee weapon without having to get your knife or sledge out !

 

Of course, the damages dealt by your melee attack would change, according to your strenght and unarmed/melee weapons skills.

 

A mod like this would be just awesome, and really immersive.

 

I'm pretty sure it can be done using FOSE and the G.E.C.K, but this must be hard to do (new animations + new scripts = a lot of time to spend).

 

So, if any modder is actually free and don't have any idea of a mod, just take this one and enhance the fallout 3 experience for everyone !

 

So I now say you Good Bye, hoping someone will be able to create that mod... some day :confused:

i really like your idea useing a hotkey instead of makeing it a just a keyboard key. so this way people who use the Xbox controller (Like me) can use it as easily as anyone else. i would really like to smash peoples heads in with my Tommy gun. but how much damage you do with this attack would have to be based off you melee skill if you ask me.

 

Sadly i bet we would already have somthing like this if all the modders weren’t spending there time making some virtual broad’s boobs bigger, ya know

this is no easy task and not many are capable of doing it. not to mention I'm not sure how possible it would even be because of the limitations on the animations. You cant add more animations without overwriting existing animations. There's rumors of being able to add special reload animations through FOSE and calling idle animations as well as i have a an idea that should work for reloads as well. But not sure how well they would work here as this is an attack animation. Ontop of that you would have to remake every weapon that would use this melee its own GECK id.

That's an assertion you really shouldn't make unless you have genuine experience with GECK and FOSE. I'm pretty sure a handful of people have attempted and given up on this idea. GECK isn't a magical toolkit that makes anything possible; the scripting commands it gives us to work with are rather limiting, and FOSE can only do so much to fix that. Just because an idea sounds reasonably simple doesn't mean we can actually do it.

The fact that weapon melee isn't at the top of everyone's priority list doesn't mean that they're all busying themselves with nude mods; some of us do have our own ideas we'd like to realize. Whining about how people won't work on the one specific mod that you want probably isn't going to spur a lot of people do to it, either.

I have to agree there, this mod sounds like a call for a modding wizard. It would be one hell of a mod, though. You'd have to balance it a little more than just relying on melee skill (which doesn't make alotta sense to me, anyone can thrust a weapon stock) like using your weapon this way should damage it more than firing normally.
