Cremdogz
As the title suggests, after playing the game for half an hour, the game will CTD. Why I don't know. Before I installed BOSS, this used to be 2 hours long before it would do that. Why again, I don't know. My computer doesn't overheat, my fans see to that, and my computer is fairly decent, though I believe the problem lies in the drivers I've put into Windows SP2 from my Mac, since there has always been a problem with my drivers. While I fixed most problems I used to have with Oblivion by fixing my drivers, it never truly got rid of them. My brother owned a mac less powerful than mine and could play Oblivion for hours on end, and the computer would be absolutely fine. For the drivers issue, I will soon be installing Windows 7, then putting Snow Leopard drivers onto it, so it should hopefully work. In the meantime, I would like someone to help me out, as I don't know whether the problem will carry on or not, and I believe it will. Before installing BOSS, I saved my load order, however, I then installed a massive amount of mods, THEN installed BOSS and played around with the ones it didn't recognise. Either way, I booted up the game, it worked like a charm, and since I had installed a new version of MMM, I waited normally for the cell reset. While the world works fine and I've found no extra bugs, it just acts very weird after half an hour, and CTDs soon after that. Hopefully, someone can find something wrong with these. I've attached my files for my load order before and after BOSS, with after BOSS including the mods I added afterwards, which I can point out which they are. ptbptb
however, I then installed a massive amount of mods Yar, that's the bit that will have caused problems - not that you installed BOSS. It's generally recommended not to install more than one mod at a time. Try following the general advice on avoiding crashes (bben has a page on it somewhere) but you may end up having to uninstall mods until the problem (hopefully) goes away. bben46
A fixed time before crashing usually means overheating. Have you checked to be sure your air channels and heat sinks are free of dust? And that there is a clear path for air to pass through your box? I once fixed one where thy had installed 4 fans, all blowing in, with no outlet except the power supply exhaust. Cremdogz
Well like I said above, I own a Mac, so I have no tower. But there is a clear way for the air to escape, and just behind it is my window, which is normally left open. That being said, I just rang up Apple, and my computer is over a year old, so I'll have to take it to a store to remove whatever dust is in my computer, since I do not trust myself handling anything to do with hardware, after I messed up my friend's computer by trying to plug in a USB :S Don't ask what went wrong, we still to this day don't know. I still don't believe that my computer is overheating, but you are the expert here. However, while my mac is usually hot, my fans are turned way up when I head over to play this on Windows. I don't have problems with any other games (though less demanding they are, which are Trackmania and Jedi Academy), and after Oblivion CTDs, going back into it straight afterwards and it is back working nice and fast again (though I almost always give it time to rest, though I have tried that before and it does work). I have a question then bben, with that computer you fixed, how long did it play Oblivion for before it CTD? And once you cleaned it, how long did it do it afterwards? I would like a comparison. Maigrets
Post the log file that BOSS makes in your Data directory. Did it give you any messages about compatibilities and whether or not some of those mods should or should not be used together? Or which esp's to use or not to use. Please don't say you installed all of those at once. That's one massive list to install without testing them individually first to see if they work properly. As ptbptb says...that's your problem. BOSS is meant as a guide not a solution. It's not foolproof.
bben46
The one I fixed with all fans blowing in never saw Oblivion. It was actually used as a machine control computer in a woodworking shop. It was full of wood chips also. I was surprised it didn't cause a fire as hot as it was getting. I'm not sure if the MAC has any temperature monitoring capabilities, but if it does, you may try looking at that. If you can start immediately after a crash, with no rest, and play for another two hours then it's probably not temperature. My next guess would be you are running out of ram. Not sure if the MAC has the same problem with not releasing ram back into the pool as other system sometimes do. Another possibility is some background program that does something at that time, such as a messaging program that periodically checks for messages.
