Jaglavak
Hey. Not sure this is the right thread but here goes: about sex hours ago I got a Password Recovery e-mail from this forum even though I never asked for one. Obviously I ignored it. I have zero experience in these matters but thought I should mention it just in case there are some evil doers out there that are trying to sneak their way in to your database. Or something. /Jaglavak
bben46
If your password still works then the reset request may well be bogus - especially if they send you to a site that looks like Nexus, but isn't. A phishing attack - if you are redirected to a non Nexus site and asked to change your password, they may be trying to steal a password hoping that you will be using the same password on other sites where they could steal even more info that could lead to your bank account being cleaned out, or a credit card being issued with your name that you don't know about. The way this works is they first ask you to enter your present password to 'verify' who you are. Then ask for a new password. Now they have your real password and can use it to take over your account by using the real change password page. You will believe that you got the new password wrong when you try to log in. And along with your account, any info about you that you have put into your profile. Be sure not to use the same user name or password on any sensitive sites that you use on non sensitive game sites. Once they have cracked one password, then they can start gathering info on you - things like mother's maiden name that are often used as a secondary identification on other sites. Facebook is a favorite site for the scammers to gather this kind of info. - those quizzes and polls you see there ... they often ask things that can lead to compromising your accounts elsewhere. Sample questions on a facebook poll What was your first dog? What was his name?Do you have any brothers or sisters? What are their names? What year did you graduate from High school? What high school did you graduate from? These are all questions that are often used by sites as a secondary identification to allow you to recover a lost password - don't answer those polls!
SeagalSteven
I can't log in to any nexus site, while login to the forum is just fine. I have the same log in details (username & pass), but on the sites I get the message that my pass is incorrect. On top of that, the contact form link doesn't work: in IE9, I get 404'd, in Opera 11.60 the page states "File does not exist" in plain text. The password obvoiusly works since, well, I can log in to the forums and post this. I use Win7 x64 & Opera 11.60 (latest as of today), no FW other than Windows FW, no script blockers. As mentioned above, I tried to log in via IE9 as well, but to the same result. Edited January 6, 2012 by SeagalSteven

SeagalSteven
Just plain letters, no numbers or signs and no capital characters. Edit: I tried it now and it's working fine. Don't understand what happened before but i hope it doesn't happen again. Edited January 6, 2012 by SeagalSteven

Nilsarn
It says that my login information is ivalid, even though if it works on the site. There's only letters from the English alphabet in my password and username, so it's not about that.It even worked earlier yesterday, but now it only claims that my password is invalid as I mentioned earlier. Why do you even have a login function on the mod manager? I mean you could just be logged in to download the manager, instead of having to type in your password everytime you turn off your computer.*sigh* Edited January 27, 2012 by Nilsarn
dudejeff22
I can't log in to any of the main websites. I get an error saying my username and password are "over the 32 character limit." This isn't true as my password is exactly 32 characters, and obviously it's working here on the forums! Please advise as to what I should do. Also I'm assuming the Chrome is officially supported now, yes? The OP is looking kinda dated! ;)
buddah
Any special characters in your password, the forums will accept them, but not the file sites. Letters and numbers only. Buddah
dudejeff22
Any special characters in your password, the forums will accept them, but not the file sites. Letters and numbers only. Buddah I see. In that case, I have a suggestion: don't let people create passwords with special characters. It's pretty silly that I can use password recovery to change my password to something that includes special characters, and then not login with that password after I've created it.
