Putting those houses to good use!

I'd like to de-board some of the other vanilla buildings. Any idea of places to continue with?

Hmmm...Well - I'd stay away from the Various DC Exteriors - Those more or less belong to DCinteriors as that project goes along..

I'd probably start poking around outer DC. There are a lot of buildings in the regular Exterior world surrounding DC that don't have any interiors. Those are all prime real estate. As for the wasteland, which really DOES need that kind of work - I don't know. I would say just add in houses or repair broken ones and hope it becomes a community standard.

Speaking of which - Fallout community should really try and see if they could make some standard areas to alter juuuuuust enough so that they become standard features for everyone. I would say base it off of W.A.N.K. for starters, but *censored*'s work isn't public enough and isn't discussed enough at length for it to work...

Instead of doing some merc stuff, make it possible to gift that survivalist bunker to big town, so they get some decent gear.

Or, you could have that ammo press in the bunker, and if you gift the bunker, they hire mercs to protect big town with ammo sales profit (maybe give them a merchant too).

Of course, you could always just keep the bunker, and have an ammo press in the capitol wasteland.

You need to add some Brahmin lol. I love those cows they just represent the game so much and it would pretty cool to have some in big town, I mean people need to eat right.

No, people don't need to eat... What gave you that idea?

Rivet City survives off a about 5 or 6 lab grown vegetables, and Megaton only needs a single Brahmin and old booze to sustain the population. Arfu lost all of their Brahmin, and have no other food source, but they can still sustain themselves and in some cases have blood that can sustain the whole vampire community as well. And then you have the poor citizens of Tennpenny Tower that survive on no food at all...

People in the post apocolypse simply don't need to eat, or can survive primarily on 200 year old TV dinners and chips...

And in case you do start to restore building outside of the Bigtown area, I would appreciate it if you left me the town that is located at the player marker on this map

I have a town of my own in the works in that location

A Big Town mod that you don't activate until AFTER you do the "big trouble" quest would be nice, because then you could make a lot of changes without wrecking the original story. The newly opened houses could have traders, tinkers, mercs, etc..., and the kids could move out of the communal houses and into their own places.

You'd need help with this one, but starting some farms and then getting the Little Lamplight kids to all move to Bigtown would be pretty cool, turning it into a real town once food was readily available.

How about an Inn? A place that travellers can rent would be nice, and it would be great if the canterbury caravans could add Bigtown to their routes. The Rivet City water caravans should also come by as well.

Really, though, if a travelling trader with a HUGE caravan drifted into the wasteland and set up shop at Bigtown, one with a vast amount of caps and inventory, that would be great for starters.

As for other places to mod, I think that Fairfax would be good. Making the raiders there non-respawning would be the first step, and then you could add all sorts of stuff to all those empty buildings.

Alright, Tony, I'll stay away from Megaton.

How about Old Olney? It's been ages since I've been up there, but are there boarded-up houses?

No, not Megaton...

Where the player cursor is, the big arrow thing. Right in the big open space just east of Evergreen Mills

None of the houses are still standing, so you probly wouldn't really be interested in the area anyways

When I finish some of my custom buildings I will put them up as a modders resource. It be a simple one peice interior and one peice exterior, so no problem with putting together all the interior stuff with the GECK peices.

There will be a few pre-war buildings that are patched up and some totally post-war structures. I am makeing different levels of damage for my mod, so there will be different meshes and textures to choose from.

So if your interested, I can let you use some of those buildings when I am done.

Here is an example of one of my current works in progress (still needs textures done for a lot of it)
