Barlas
So, I got fallout 3 today, and I installed it normally. No mods, and I didn't even put the second disk of DLC yet. I played a little, got to megaton, saved and exited game. A second after pressing exit game, a windows message came up saying: "Fallout 3 has stopped working" How does one fix this? I have 2g of ram, vista SP 1, and play other games almost flawlessly. Help?
evilneko
What patch are you currently running? Also, on Vista it generally makes life easier if you install Fallout somewhere other than the default directory. I do this (even though I don't have to on XP) myself to keep things a bit more organized. That said, I've pretty much ignored it whenever Fallout 3 crashed on exit. It doesn't do it anymore, but since I never paid it any attention anyway, I can't say what fixed it.
chiwoo18
If you have the same issue and cause of that issue that I had then this should fix it. Found on page 10 of the Fallout 3 Tweak Guide http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_10.html "Note however that I found that setting bMultiThreadAudio=1 would cause a freeze upon exiting the game every time, so you may wish to keep this variable disabled for that reason." So change bMultiThreadAudio=1 to bMultiThreadAudio=0. This is a change made in your Fallout.ini file which is located in \Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Fallout3\ directory. Hopefully this fixes the problem you are having.
