Missing folders? UNP Help

Hello all, new to the forum and I'd love to ask some advice and/or help please.

Basically, I am trying to get the unp body to install and work...

I am running a fairly new iMac with 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7

32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB Graphics

On OS X 10.9.2

I have downloaded Wineskin Winery and thru it gotten Skyrim downloaded and running fairly smoothly on my system, along with successfully linking and programming a PS3 controller to my system, and now attempting to add my first mod(s).

I have downloaded the unp base main body "UNP BASE Main body V1dot2-6709" from nexus, and unzipped it with 7zX, producing a folder with folders "meshes" and "textures" inside.

I have followed this fella's guide, which worked for me in reguards to installing and getting the game to run, but his mod description at the bottom is where I get lost..

http://www.reddit.com/r/SkyrimforMac/comments/1vniqb/how_to_play_skyrim_on_mac_a_simple_guide/

(How to use Nexus mods, in bold, before the comments below)

I have also watched both of these videos:

The second video being much more applicable to me of course, being he was describing the install on a mac.

However, when I dig into my skyrim winewrapper game icon with "right click, "show package contents" and get down to the "Data" folder, I find there are no "meshes" or "textures" folders within it.

Nor could I make the "Plugins.txt" he mentions as I seem to be also missing most of the folders, I.E. "transgaming" that is supposed to be within contents > resources > transgaming.. and all folders within that.

I did try just dropping the "meshes" and "textures" folders into the "data" folder and the game ran fine, but I was still in a default dark elf body...unless I am missing something I have to do within the game itself to toggle on the unp body??

Sorry if this is very noobish, modding is very new to me, but I am trying to explain clearly but as detailed as I can with my limited knowledge, thanks for having a look ^.^

When you've just installed Skyrim there shouldn't be any folders inside of Data, just the bsa files containing the games original information. When you start installing mods that utilize the various folders (as long as they're packaged correctly) they will create those locations (the first time, each subsequent mod will need to merge and/or overwrite some of the contents in those folders).

Plugins.txt is created after you've installed a mod and enabled it in whatever mod manager you are using. In the case of something that simply replaces/overwrites vanilla assests (mesh and/or texture replacers - like UNP) there will be no plugins.txt entry for those files because they do not have a plugin file (plugin file extensions or .esp (mod) or .esm (master file))) meaning there is nothing for you to enable after installing the components.

In the case of a body replacer like UNP, you won't see any changes until you strip a character of the sex the body mod pertains to. It doesn't make everyone in the game nude, it just gives them better bodies when they are nude. To properly utilize them you'll need an armor replacer that fits those bodies and conforms to your tastes as well as or in addition to custom armors. Or if what you really wanted was all the women in your game to run around nude ( ) you'll have to find a mod that removes all female armor, I'm sure they're out there, somewhere.

Thanks so much for looking and taking the time to reply Oubliette. ^.^

Ok, I follow most of that =)

I'm not using any sort of mod manager, mostly due to not knowing of any that work for mac and winery/wineskin wrapper whatever.

Is there one out there that does work on mac? If not, I am left staring at these "meshes" and "textures" folders and wondering just where exactly to plop them or whatever is needed to enable their working.

If you are going to do it manually...

The meshes and textures folders need to be copied into the Data folder.

In the end you should have

Skyrim > Data > Meshes > whatever stuff from the mod

Skyrim > Data > Textures > whatever stuff from the mod
