Better Doomstones

For the other realms i was thinking, black exterior with just floating pieces of ayleid ruins that you have to make your way across

 

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. :P

 

Right, scripting for the Wizard's Wrath ability is finished (only 66 lines, not that much for something this complicated I guess :P ), just need to test and debug. :)

Well since I'm using OBSE I can easily make stuff fly through that room or circle around some central point. Which creates an awesome atmosphere. :P

 

I love OBSE. :)

Hey man I like the direction you've given this, it is a very original idea, not remaking doomstones, but this kind of scripted constant effects. I agree that magic effects are pretty limited in Oblivion so in the end they all are the same, so it's good to know you're trying to do something else. And indeed, OBSE rules!

 

A few random ideas:

 

- Steed: make wild horses friendly and "legally" rideable / Make them really "friendly" with the player to the point that horses will fight for the player / increase player's move speed (not the attribute, but some game setting, if it exists, that could affect player's speed - maybe altering player's height).

- Thieve: I like this "Eye of Thieve" power, I like it so much that I'd make it by duplicate, so this one only works with chests

- Tower: "Eye of Guardian", the same but only works with doors / randomly the player gets "stone skin", playing a visual on him and giving a shield effect or resist normal weapons, so like it's randomly turning on and off, maybe only when the player is in combat

- Warrior: when health is below 50% it starts to increase strenght and will, proportionally to the health percentage below 50. (ie, 37% health means +13 at both attributes, or any other formula you came up with).

- Sperpent: random chance to infect actors and creatures with melee strikes / random chance it paralyzes them

- Shadow: player is constantly surrounded by a ball of darkness that conceals him. This can be made creating a light and giving it a negative brightness value, so in fact it "removes" light, then a script should update it's position each few frames so it corresponds to player's position / this could render the player unable to cast light spells.

- Lord: random chance for enemies to flee from player while in combat or better before entering combat.

- Ritual: regen 1 magicka per second, constantly, even for those born under the atronach sign.

- Lover (this can be funny, but not very serious really): Random chance for an Actor to fall in love with you (regardless of disposition, race and sex). It could give them a follow package and make they speak random sentences / The same effect but considering player's Personality, the higher it is (above 50) there's higher chance that this happens, with values below 50 the chances are that friendly actors would dislike you so much that they'd want to hurt you (and if player's personality it's exactly at 50 then NPC's say that love you while they attack you, kinda they can't make clear their feelings).

 

Btw, have you planned editing birthsigns powers too? It might make sense since the most powerful stones are related to a birthsign, so they could be both the same spell but with complementary magnitude, ie, someone with thieve birthsign that has the thieve stone power will have higher chance to open a chest or something than someone with that power but another birthsign, or you could make too that some abilities are only adquired if the stone matches your birthsign, etc.

 

I never use the doomstone powers so I don't remember those that doesn't correspond to a birthsign. I'll take a look at those stones to see if I came up with some idea and I'll post it, but maybe that will be next year.

Some of those ideas are pretty awesome. :) I'll have a closer look at them and see which ones I can use tomorrow.

 

I haven't planned on editing the birthsigns, but I like your ideas. I'll think about that. ;D

Perhaps we could also think of some powers for shrines to the Nine?

 

Of course you'll be credited in the ReadMe for your suggestions.

 

How about a wall of red flames surrounding the player, incinerating anything that comes close. For akatosh.

 

Kynareth I'd like try and think up something for...Summoning a bunch of animals is way to cliche.

 

I haven't read the entire thread, so are there ideas for this area yet? If not I'd like to think some stuff up for them.

I dont agree with the Authoritative Gaze making the enemies fear you and leave, making them join you for some time or something like that is more fitting. if you rename it to Terror Aura or maybe Scary Guy makes more sense that they run from you. (of course what I think is irrelevant, you are the one doing the work) Anyway these are my suggestions:

 

Until you fall: If you die you get up with 15% of your life, shield, and reflect damage, beacuse you simply are too stuborn to accept defeat. Of course this can only work once per fight.

 

Strong Guy or Ogre Strength: A chance to send enemies flying after you hit them.

 

Where the f*ck are you going?: A chance to paralyze enemies who are running from you.

 

Cruelty: You are so menacing and cruel to your enemies that they decide to kill themselves before you have the chance to get your hands on them.
