Rather than install it though, install FOMM and use it to create a fake xlive.dll.

Agnot2006
Thank you both, Ziusudra I think I’d like to try that I don’t like GFWL Pkleiss I have downloaded the client as a backup. Did this happen because my Games PC is not connected to the Net? This didn’t happen with my original F3 disk on the same unconnected PC. Agnot2006
Pkleiss I have downloaded and installed the client from your link. Which worked flawlessly and now my game is running at version 1.7. Thank You I thought someone said that 1.7 was required to run the Zeta DLC, so why wasn’t the F3 Game supplied in the pack 1.7 – strange. To Ziusudra, I don’t know if my FOMM is working properly, but I couldn’t find anything to do with creating a fake xlive.dll. Perhaps you would like to explain it for others with the same problem.I thank you for your suggestion.
Skotte
the "Fake Xlive.dll" option is found in "install tweaker" which is in the "tools" menu on the latest versions of FOMM & on the right side buttons on older versions
pkleiss
Apparently, some of the GOTYE DVDs shipped with an out-of-date GFWL client (mine included). Go figure.
