Thalan1a
Would it be possible to make a mod that would allow you to transport your character in NV over to Skyrim and back or would that be way too difficult to do?
MarchUntoTorment
No. There was a discussion on the Tale of Two Wastelands forums about this, but quite simply, looking at how tough it was to create TTW, it'd be basically impossible to create what you envision. The game mechanics are just too different.

Some stuff would be pretty straight forward since you many of the assets (like the nifs for fallout outfits/armor, weapons etc) would probably work fine and you can make new perks in Skyrim to mimic those in NV. But really that's not the issue. Practically speaking it's just a no go do to legal reasons. I don't believe you could host any FONV assets in skyrim mod, which means it can't be distributed. A experienced modder might be able to jury rig one for him/herself, but it would only be for personal use. At least that's the way I (possibly imperfectly) understand it. MarchUntoTorment
If it required TESV.esm as a master, then it might be legally feasible (that's sort of a grey area - Bethesda dropped a Morrowind/Oblivion crossover which did that, but they've (thus far) allowed TTW. But still, the amount of work and the difference between the two engines makes it completely infeasible - you'd be better off completely rebuilding FONV within Skyrim's engine than trying to make the two integrate properly. SayinNuthin
Getting the bows and crossbows into NV as stealth weapons would be fun. Bit of a mystery why none of Caesar’s boys use them.

That's completely wrong.....100% wrong. You don't rebuild FONV in Skyrim (a monumental project), just to have assets for a single player's weapons and equipment. You port over the assets (meshes and other assets into skyrim's various equip forms). You would also do the same for any items the player aquires in skyrim and wants to take back to FONV. I havn't ported over anything from FONV to Skyrim, so I don't know if porting the nifs involves just loading them into blender and exporting under settings for skyrim or if it's much more involved. Other things like perks can be done solely in the creation kit. If it required TESV.esm as a master, then it might be legally feasible (that's sort of a grey area - Bethesda dropped a Morrowind/Oblivion crossover which did that, but they've (thus far) allowed TTW. Completely missing the point, TESV.esm will always be required for the skyrim side. Neither nexus or steam workshop will host TTW or a mod like it. You have to have assets from another game in the mod, or make provisions for the player to extract them themselves. And since neither of the formats for the nif's are compatible with each other, it's far more involved than firing up FOMM or another BSA un/archiver. That's why a modder with some experience and time could probably do it, but couldn't distribute it (at least through teh normal channels).

We've got a few crossbows in FONV. The bows lack animations, which is why no one has implemented them for FONV (the animations are in skyrim but can't be ported back to FO). Thalan1a
Ok so it would be easier to just do a world add on to NV than do a crossover. I wasn't sure if they used the same game engine or not. Would love to see some one make a world like Skyrim for the game. Maybe based on a storyline of something that takes you back in time so something like that.
