  1. No Mod Detectives thread yet or is it called something else now? Which isn't actually the question I came to ask, which is; Is there a auto-settlement mod that just deals with all this Sims style management minutemen crap so I can get back to the breaking things and hurting people? Which thanks to Idlesheep we can now do with style and flair in Fo4. Have zero interest in assigning beds and jobs to NPCs and planting crops for them. Don't mind slaughtering their tormentors or even knocking them up some defences but that's about it.. Golly gosh, the insipid characterizations and lacklustre quest plots in this game have turned the saviour of many wastelands into a callous hard bitten misanthrope! Never saw that one coming...
  2. Yaaa.. and Corporations, of which Bethesda is a minor example, care deeply about national laws (a/s). That's why they can access whole buildings full of a$$hole lawyers who can confuse and generally confound any issue or 'right' granted by your nations laws. I could go on at some length on this theme but to sum it up. These are the new 'robber-barons' and they take pretty much what ever they want. Ideally of course they would persuade you to give them your stuff (work, creativity etc.) free, willingly. But that kind of persuasion can be expensive, and once they have run the numbers and deemed it costs more than the services of the lawyers, they'll just take it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news an all that, but welcome to the 21st C.
  3. Is there a solution for this? To get rid of the compulsory [Enter] key and put it back the way I had it on (thumbwhack) [space] before the update.. Which BTW is EXACTLY why I have MY machine offline most of the time and why my AV and Fw are instructed to block Steam and Bethesda. Precisely to prevent f**kwits messing with the software like this! Anyway have hotkeys light onboard (for 'Modern Firearms') if that will help.
  4. Total endorse Cybersoldier's statement "Creating a repeating firearm, let alone a semi or full auto like the pipe weapons can be, out of salvaged parts, is basically impossible without advanced machining tools like a lathe and milling machine." I'd only add that even if you had micrometer level machine tools, your still not going to produce anything reliable out of scrap metal sourced from 200 year old vehicle body parts and cooking pots. You will need high quality materials as well. > > > > But then I freely admit to hating all the Pipe-Guns in the game for being infeasibly ugly and would be delighted to see any NPC using one for more than a couple of rounds have their fingers blown off when the receiver disintegrates under the stress. As a weapon of absolute, back-to-the-wall desperation.. fine.. Or used by terminally stupid Super-muties and reckless, drug addled raiders.. Okay. But used well, and efficiently? Uh-uh.. Not happening.
  5. I don't think a single modder on the Nexus is actively modding simply to appease the console crowd o.O I also don't understand your "pulling unfeasible weapons out of your ..." line. What exactly do you mean...? Yea, sorry, the jibe about why modders do what they do was a little unfair but I believe kudos from consoleers in time, will have influence that has little to do what PC players can do. And pulling unfeasible weapons out of your a$$ refers to not being able to see (or wear) the weapon you are equipped with. Which in the case of the hundreds of horribly ugly and ridiculously infeasible Pipe-Guns might be understandable but then where is the motivation to craft the stunning accurate models of firearms of we have seen in previous games. Sure all the modder has to do is include another model that's rigged as an item of clothing, but that taken with the stupid Pipe-Guns and some other stuff I'll get to, all amounts to a move in a direction I do not like. As far as I can tell they did away with wearable weapons because of the new (cardboard judging by it's durability) power armour system - which is also atrocious as far as I'm concerned. And because Fallout is a first person shooter.. right? Well that isn't how I play it On-My-PC, I have acog scopes on right click so pardon me if it looks (to me) as though Bethsoft have said to themselves lets just milk the PC players and modding community for stuff we can punt to Consoleers while basically palming them off with a console-port game. @Royhr Yes, The Tale Of Two Wastelands is epic and I have a plugins.txt set up to click into TTW pretty much all of the time and one for WOP-Warzones etc. etc. You might like Bounties (complete set) with a HQ companion like Niner or Willow for an interesting playthrough. But crushed and incredibly pissed about what we got for FiascO4 and give them more money to elaborate on the mess - No Chance!
  6. I didn't get into it.. got out of it and I only swing by here every couple of weeks to see if someone has done some massive makeover mod that will prod the whole fiasco into a direction I can summon some interest for. Beth have destroyed this game for me with all the stuff such as pulling unfeasible weapons out of your a$$ to grind down bullet-sponge 'baddies' for absurd stories lines... Naaa, Maybe in a year someone will have rescued this mess with a 'Project Brazil' type thing but I gravely doubt it, because consoleers wont ever be able to use that, and that is what it is all about now isn't it? Kudos from those lightweights. See y'all back in the Mojave.
  7. As it happens I prefer my "User/Appdata/Local/Fallout4/Plugins.txt" set to read only because I don't use a mod managers and load manually. I use that text file to set load order and then lock it to stop the game messing with it, as Fo3 and FoNV were sometimes given to doing. Anyway I can't much help you with NMM stuff, sorry.
  8. And some form of script extender and possibly something that does the MCM stuff.. But if you say thats how it works I'll take your word for it, So the Playstation game has .bsa and .esm files then and you can make new folders for meshes and sounds and stuff? Funny, I thought it would be wildly different (for some reason)
  9. You have checked that; Navigate to your Fallout 4 Folder at the following location "Documents/My Games/Fallout 4"Within this folder will be a number of .ini files, highlight "Fallout4Prefs.ini" and "Fallout4.ini".Right Click, select Properties and ensure that these are NOT marked as read only. Haven't you?
  10. I'm sat here with my brother in law who is what Bben calls a 'console kiddy' (PS4) who is quite convinced that later this year he's going to be getting mods for his PS4 Fallout. I tinker with modding and sort of know how the games file structures work and I can't imaging just how they are going to pull this off. Okay perhaps some basic retextures might be doable and maybe some 'New Lands' which are basically new map levels with existing assets but multi dependent, models/textures/scripted quests with dialogue and so on.. that work alongside other multi-dependent mods.. Anyone have any ideas on this?
  11. Would it be wildly incestuous to make a Book Of Eli mod out there beyond the gameworld?
  12. Willow equivalent would be a huge improvement but I think its going to take work by Someguy2000, MGE and djmystro to put some meat on this game's scrawny frame. To be completely frank though it is Dragon Age Inquisition that sh*tcanned Fo4's dismal story for me. A game where what you did had consequences was.. world shaking.. So DAI can't be modded beyond a few hairstyles and outfits, the awesome narrative (and telling of) has had the effect of raising my personal bar to levels Bethsoft couldn't see with a 4-12 scope! But your right the horrible texture glitch is a huge turn off, as is pulling weapon out of your.. where-ever.. and the 18??? key interface and.. and.. and.. Lots and lots of little stuff which will probably be fixed, however the one thing I can't see anyone fixing is a subtle problem, 4 hours to install? Is that just my setup because it amounts to a horrible restraint on what I can do to the game - or what I'm prepared to risk doing! I can uninstall and re-install FoNV, And all my essential mods in 40 minutes flat, which means I can cheerfully wreak the whole installation and fix it before I need to break for a cuppa. Four hours.. means I've got to be a lot more careful which doesn't encourage experimentation knowing will need to spend all night looking at a progress bar if I screw it up and that isn't going to improve with DLCs is it.
  13. Fo4 is just a hunting reserve/shooting gallery for me now, no more than that. Someone here uploads a new gun such as the spectacular LK-05 [http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10516/?] and I load it, .additem it and bimble around shooting some stuff until I get bored and go back to my GECK project in the Mojave. No quests in Fo4 interest me, nor any NPC characters or vanilla assets. I've no interest in playing a weaponised version of the Sims so.. Meh! I keep watching here in the hope some of the brilliant (and they are going to need to be) members of the community can rescue this mess. Actually I'm gutted, Beth couldn't have made a bigger cockup of this, for me, short of making it online only.
  14. Oh a secret such as who the hell all those eyebots are reporting to.. that sort of secret?
