I've been trying to get customized difficulty settings to work for a little while now, and nothing I try seems to cut it. I first tried to edit Nightmare Plus' difficulty settings located in jra_enemies_modcore.erf. I figured since I was able to extract the item stats gda from NP items mod and just put it in the override with custom stats that I could do the same thing with the difficulty gda, but that didn't work, nor did extracting it, editing it, and re inserting it into jra_enemies_modcore.erf. I tried removing all jra modules except core and enemies, my own module (which is only weriKK's custom items script), and everything out of the override folder, and nothing worked. I even tried the reverse, having just a modded difficulty gda in the override with no other mods installed at all. I'm kind of baffled, because it seems like difficulty overrides work for everyone else, I don't really see why it can't be working for me. The only thing I can possibly think of is I builder to player'd everything from NP enemies' erf file after I modded it to try and recreate the erf package (at that point I didn't know you could extract/reinsert). When I installed it though, it installed into the weriKK's My Custom Items thing. So it may be that, but I had removed the resulting erf file, and removed the folder entirely before I tested a difficulty.gda in the override. : \ does anyone know how to help me?

What do you mean it 'doesn't work'? what changes did you do to the gda?, have you tried to switch to normal/easy, save, quit, make the change to nightmare, load the game and switch to nightmare?. It's possible that the game needs you to toggle difficulties to apply the change.

I changed enemy resistance and player resistance to 90% and -90% respectively, for testing purposes. As for changing the difficulty I have changed it to something else and changed it back, without the save/reload. But it seems like difficulty chosen isn't specific to the save game. I had also started a new game to see if that would apply the changes, but it didn't. I also just loaded it up again to try save/reload and it was labeled as 'undefined'. I gather this is because the difficulty gda in the override only has hard and nightmare on it. At any rate, the values I changed still haven't changed anything that I can see, unless I'm changing the wrong columns (14-17), but those columns had values consistent to what other modders said they changed (I was looking for 20 and -20 for instance when looking for enemy/player resist in someone's edited difficulty gda).

Well I've confirmed that I'm actually changing something, I decided to increase the healing reduction in the gda and confirmed that I get healed for less. I suppose physical/spell resistance is the chance to save against those conditions. I'll probably find out on my own with some testing, but if anyone happens to know if there's a damage modifier or what the columns in the gda mean that would be appreciated.
