Creation Kit and deleting objects issue

Hi, experimenting with modding and the first thing I want to do is remove some of the armor and weapons I don't like.

Im using the Creation Kit - downloaded from steam, current version (also latest version of game via steam). I have worked out how to load multiple masters so using all the official ones for the DLC's. (and using tes5edit to auto clean the mod, just to remove all identical entries to masters)

I have managed to delete all leather armor cuirass objects and references using the object window in CK, tested this by starting a new game, the armor doesn't show up on my char or NPC. - this bit is all good.

But.....its not fully deleted as the armor is still showing in crafting menu - I can still craft it, which produces an item that is invisible when worn, but is visible in the inventory or when dropped.

So some remnant of the leather armor cuirass still remains somewhere in my .esp? when filtering for leather (all) in the CK I can't see anything else to edit (unless I missed it).

anyone know what else I need to do?

thanks

To remove from crafting you need to edit the recipe (constructible object record). Yes, you could delete it but the preferable solution would be to apply an impossible condition such as player level equaling zero.

I will state this, deleting records out of the base game (and dlcs) is a bad idea. You might apply some mods that expect to work with those records, if they are missing the game could crash.

Instead of deleting the armor records, I would do the following:

For pre-placed references -- modify the 3d positioning so that it is lowered below ground at least 1000 units

For instances placed via leveled lists -- remove their entry in the leveled list

For recipes -- place an impossible condition such as the player being level 0

For actors & containers -- remove the items from their inventories

However, an even better solution would be to replace the mesh & textures with something that you do like. Then change the name either directly on the record or via SKSE's SetName function for forms.
