nightinglae850
i was going to get a new computer, but my buddy told me that Windows 8 isnt good for gaming, is that true?
IceDolphin
Well it isn't, but I have windows 8, it mostly depends on your specs though.
MODinsane
I use Win 8 Pro. Sometimes it can be a pain, but a cheap utility for $5 converts to Win 7 look while having Win 8 and works also. Start8 is the name of the program.
nukeclears
Just get windows 8, the pro's outweigh the cons bigtime and it works perfectly well for gaming. Preferably get 8.1 to get dx11.2 support.
Deleted5770650User
I suggest looking at ClassicShell it does basically the same thing as Start8.
MODinsane
Win 8.1 is more for the touch screen laptops, don't update to it if you don't have one!
rhowington
Actually there are 2 8.1 updates. The first is a free download from the store and the second comes from necessary updates. The truth is, with those updates Skyrim is as stable or more so than with Win 7. You bypass the Metro screen and go straight to the desktop unless you have a touchscreen. I have played Skyrim under each iteration and unless you have a mod problem, Skyrim is very stable. My specs:Asus ROG Laptop.CPU-I7-3630GPU-GTX 670m 3gbScreen size/resolution 17 inches 1920X1080Driver version: 337.88Operating system: Windows 8.1 Pro w/Media Center
Moksha8088
Plus Windows 8.+ holds the potential of playing Skyrim on your toaster. Just push the handle and hope you don't take an arrow to the knee.
MODinsane
I don't use Win 7, I have Win 8 Pro. Pro can be a pain at times, but Skyrim runs very well. My HP Entertainment Laptop runs pretty good with Skyrim. I know if I get another laptop, Ill check out some of the bigger game laptops if possible and those are pretty expensive at 1-2 thousand a pop. I have an old Gateway Tower I could gut and build whatever, but I don't want to be locked to a desk!
Rockmassif
There is almost no FPS difference between W7 and W8. It is usually between 0-2, and mostly 0.
