chaiminhuei
Finished the night battle and even finished the Urn quest but the quests givers are still missing. I tried messing a little with "runscript zz_arl_debug" to no avail. Is it possible to fix this issue without restarting the game?
taitai907
I have the same problem, too. This sucks.
Thandal
Sorry you're having problems. As always with this sort of issue, "What mods are installed?"
Codifer
I just discovered thisalso.I will attempt to discover the most recent mods installed. Perhaps this is also part of the missing fire barrier during the night battle.
Codifer
Did some tinkering to no avail. Upon researching a bit more I did find this thread here at Nexus: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/278428-npcs-missing/ It would seem that NVariety is the common factor. I will try the un-install and re-install. Also will check the NVariety page to see if a solution has been reached. Cheers
Shacary
totally what codifier said, I had same probem and by process of elimination removing the NVariety mod fixed the issue. Its a neat mod, mb someday that problem will be radified.
Codifer
Well, that leaves a bit of a choice. I really DO like the NVariety mod. I did a bit of testing and I found that characters who finished Redcliff before I installed NVariety suffer no changes to the NPCs/quests/journal derived therein. All seems good for them. There are a great many of them too. I figured that one of the prime jobs of the Warden was to raise an army. So I did, some hundreds of willing grunt PCs were created and are stashed in folders indicating their various levels of progress. I spent so much time creating soldiers that the Wife pegged me as some sort of closet Frankenstein and, even though I installed Dragon Age in the Fall of '09, I...um ....... actually only finished the Final Battle for the first time.... this morning (it was kinda neat). I did not notice any deviance in game play before Redcliff. The changes in the Redcliff battle itself and the aftermath are of debatable importance. As far as I can tell, there is the lack of burning oil. This is really no bother and, indeed, removes the inclination of the knights to try for the Darwin Award by dancing about in the fire. The bad guys seem to be more willing to come down the hill and attack. The missing NPCs give side quests. Most of these can be gotten elsewhere. Two that are probably not are "Grease the Wheels" and "Skin Deep". I think that I can live without those. What I intend to do is to test for any other changes in game play that NVariety may have engendered. I have a lovely human noble who just finished Redcliff in its altered state. I will call up one from the ranks of those who have finished Redcliff in its "vanilla" form. I will play them side by side and make note of any odd behavior or out of script breakages. I am hoping that there will be none. NVariety is still active. I will post progress from time to time. It may take awhile. Cheers
Shacary
Yes i have noticed if i did the redcliff before instlaling the Nvariety it seemed to work fine as originally i had installed it way later in firs tplay thru. It was new games i had issues, many times the zombies wouldnt come down the hill to fight and i ran up there and no zombies, I didnt care about the oil or the chanttry quests either, o yes and oddly Bevin could not be activated in the closet either. I could live without that too, but i did need the fight to begin to progress beyond standing and awaiting a bevy of undead that never attacked. Incidentally i think it also interfered with lothering bar, I could not recruit leliana in that it crashed continually and often I could not reload a saved game I had to begin a new game as old would never load. I am pc illerate, and i luv the indivivuality that Nvariety provided, but removing this allowed the game to play as normal .
Codifer
Interesting. I recruited Leliana without trouble before I went to Redcliff. There were no crashes or load failures. I tend to hang about in Lothering for quite some time (home base for Wardens Keep and Honleath quests) and have never noticed anything out of place when NVariety was active. It seems so very odd to me that NVariety only seems to affect Redcliff (well, so far anyway). It will be interesting to see what the side by side play turns up. Electrons must be capricious little rascals (if not downright evil). Cheers and thanks for the feedback.
MeToLee
I don't know anyone still has this problem but culprits are Advanced Tactics, Item set Fix and most suprisingly Extra Dog Slot. Edited September 7, 2014 by MeToLee
