DavidBudreck
The black void has happened to me several times, like with the supposed Estruchon of Chorrol fix, that made all my Ebony Shields black, and some "fixes" by the Unofficial Oblivion Patch that turned various pieces of steel and guard armor black. I believe it us caused by a vanilla texture being replaced by a mod, but not updating ArchiveInvalidation. The easiest thing to do is find whatever mesh is black, and deleting it. Pink is Oblivion's default color when it can't find a texture, so somewhere you are missing some textures. Windows 7 may be the issue if you installed Oblivion to its default location c:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion. The User Security gets in the way. Your best bet would be to reinstall Oblivion to something like c:\Games\Oblivion or some such. You can copy your existing data folder, and paste it on top of the default data folder once Oblivion is installed again, so you won't necessarily lose all your mods. However, before you do anything like this MAKE A BACKUP FIRST!!!!!!!! It is good to have a backup of an untouched data folder anyway. Bben may come alone with some better advise, so keep checking back. He knows way more about this than me.
Maigrets
I don't have experience with with either Vista or Windows 7. I stick with tried and true Windows XP. Why don't you keep the archives of mods you download and back them up on discs? I've got DVDR's full of mods, so I don't have to download them again and a lot of them are not available anymore so can't be re-downloaded. Is it such a trial to find your install discs? It sounds like you've installed some kind of NPC overhaul mod or something like it. Perhaps you could post a load order of your mods so someone may have some chance of helping by spotting something that may be causing the issue. Are you sure you've installed your mods correctly? Even though they worked before, it's still a good idea to install one or two at a time and make sure they work before adding a heap of mods then finding out you have a problem. It may be boring but will save you trouble in the end. so hopefully somome can help me with this issue? plz? ive tried turning off and on esp files but nothing works so far. This doesn't always work. If a mod adds textures and meshes and other files, especially animations, you must remove those as well to remedy problems. Just deactivating the esp will not work in many cases. Yaar, but deactivating and reactivating omods does work. Another good reason to convert to .omod with Oblivion mod manager when installing mods. I prefer to install manually so I know exactly what's going into my game. Unless of course it's a known large mod like MMM or the Unofficial Patches and the like from a modder I know. OMOD's aren't always correct especially when users create their own from the archive they download and don't do it properly and have to ask why.
