Like, Can I just not use full songs from bands and such for like a radio station? Or can I not put even a teeny tiny portion of a song it at all. Can I use any song as long as I give full credit/rights to its creator? Can I only use user created music? (from programs such as FLstudios and the like) I just want to know so I can avoid a cease and desist order from anyone, or having my mod removed. buddah Posted January 7, 2010 Share Posted January 7, 2010 IF the material is protected under copyright, it cannot be uploaded here. Rather than take a chance of putting the site in jeopardy, just don't upload it here if it is still under copyright. Because we use this as a rule of thumb, it it is newer than 50 years, it is still protected under the terms of copyright: So anything produced after this date in 1960 cannot be uploaded here as it will be summarily deleted and other actions taken as deemed appropriate at the time. You can find a plethora of material that is in the public domain and use it and upload it. Just show the source and permissions to redistribute if it is still protected under copyright.....some do allow it, so if you get it from a source that does allow it, post a link to the announcement on an official web site representing all concerned. We are quite protective for the nexus family of sites and if in doubt throw it out. I would rather have an uploader PO'ed at me than see the site in jeopardy over someone's upload. Also, would it be too much if I were to PM you asking if a certain thing is ok? I would state source, and if I could find permission, as well as the actual content, and ask if its alright. Just to be safe. Or would this be too intrusive on my part?
