blackninja420
I know this isn't in the right forum, but I didn't get any replies in the Modification Trouble-Shooting forum...so. Hey, ok, so let me fill you in on my situation. I downloaded around 300+ mods, and spent about a day and a half, roughly 24+ hours nearly straight (I spent a whole night wide awake) installing all of them. I was not aware that Fallout 3 had a hardcoded limit of 254 plug-ins, as I have been told. The advice I was given was to take a stab at merging certain mods using FO3 Editor. So, I downloaded the Editor and the manual for it. I installed it, started it up, loaded all my mods, what a list. I started reading through the FO3 Manual, and within minutes I ran into an error. It says that many of the commands, such as "Check for Errors" and "Merge Patches" are obtained by right-clicking in the left hand side window, where all the mods are shown in fold out tree menus. I try to right click in the open space, multiple times, but it just registers them as left clicks! So, I cannot even get the most basic options of FO3 Editor to work, and the task ahead of me with merging nearly half of my mods together, checking how many mods have similar modifications in them, and end up tossing unneeded ones if it comes to that, is a huge brick wall. I am in need of desperate help for 1.) Someone's help in why my FO3 Editor is not working as it is said to work in the manual. (To clear out things, it is up to date, and it is installed in the correct directory, which is on my D: drive since I know of the problems with Vista users and the Program Files.) And 2.) Someone who would be kind enough, and have the time, to help me out with merging together all these mods if I run into more complications. I spent over 24+ hours installing the mods, I don't want to have to spend more time un-installing half of them. Please help! Thanks in advanced. evilneko
Is this (clicky) the context menu you are looking for? Or this one?http://webbstuff.net/evilneko/fo3editcontextmenu2.jpg 24 hours to just install a bunch of mods? What were you doing, extracting each file individually from each archive? Or were you including download and play time in that? edit: linkified the first image rather than inline. blackninja420
The first picture you posted! When I right click it acts like I'm just left-clicking, I feel like I'm back at school with those stupid Macs... And no, I have not yet been able to play. Let me put it this way, my data file alone is 20.1GB now. I had a number of older mods from my previous install, that I had to get rid of due to lack of computer power, and a corrupt save that made me not want to deal with the horrible quality due to my PC. I had to get the newer versions of these mods, and install them. I didn't do them file by file, but I didn't use the FOMM's ability to add mods, I find it is stupid because it adds everything such as screen shots, and readme's into the folder, and some mods will not even work properly if put in by FOMM. I would also just combine folders when the menu would come up, but this occasionaly rose to the prompt asking me if I wanted to replace certain files. There prompts could end up being for hundreds of files, I think the biggest single prompt for replacement had 600 or so files. Being that some times the one's already in there are newer, and sometimes the one's I'm putting in are newer, this would come to me going through and clicking for each one, instead of doing the "Solve all following errors as this" option. I tend to be as thurough as I can when installing mods, or making my own mods "Although I do this for other games, I don't like the GECK", so I run into as little errors as possible during troubleshooting. Little to my knowledge I ended up having around double the amount of mods Fallout 3 allows, something I wasn't ready for. So, i was told to learn to use FO3 Edit to merge some mods. And...I suck with using FO3 it seems...
evilneko
I just right click the archive (be it 7z, rar, or zip) and select the "Extract To..." option that IZArc puts on my context menu. Since it remembers the past few locations it extracted to, it's just a couple clicks and a few seconds while it works. ;) (And holy crap, 20GB? What is that every high-res texture mod you can find in there along with every single radio mod to ever include mp3s in the download?) Just now, I noticed that if I right click before FO3Edit is finished loading all the mods, no context menu will show up and it acts like a left click. Now, I only have a total of 56 mods (well, that includes Fallout's main esm and DLCs and excludes mods disabled in FOMM), and FO3Edit took roughly 30 seconds to finish loading them all. You have a lot more mods. When you open FO3Edit, you should get a window that says Master/Plugin Selection with a checklist of mods. Have you tried unchecking all but a few before hitting OK? I think in the end though, the best solution would be to just go through your list of mods and think about which ones you really want to keep. But then, I've also kept the original archive for pretty much every mod I've downloaded, so it'd be a simple thing for me to just re-install Fallout and then reinstall just a few mods. blackninja420
Ooooh ok, maybe it wasn't fully loaded yet, that's why it was doing that. And no, lol I havn't tried to only load a few, I tried to load them all so I could check out all the errors that they would occur with eachother. And hahaa, actually, I do not believe I have a signle Hi-Res texture mod in there. And the only radio mod I have is NoStatic, and the one that allows you to put in your own music, but I havn't yet done that lol. I just downloaded nearly every quest mods, and location mod I could find hahaaa. Well, thank you for the help man, I appreciate it.
