daventry
Is Skyrim the Most Heavily Modded Game out of Oblivion and Morrowind. i remember putting Mods for Oblivion was like 10 the least, yet in Skyrim i have like 400 Mods. Why has Bethesda gone Lazy, since i hear that Skyrim was Specifically made for the Xbox. Can we Hope that TES6 will Exceed as to what Skyrim Poorly gave. ShmweShmwe
For Oblivion I only ever had a few very specific mods, to add special things to the game for certain play throughs, or something totally different to what was in the game, with Skyrim I have loads of mods to add random things, just to boost the core experience
NorthHare
I don't know if the number of mods used necessarily represents how good the base game is. Most of my Skyrim mods are to tweak the game to my personal preferences rather than fix things that are objectively wrong with it. The unofficial patches fix bugs, SkyUI sorts out the console style menus for people who don't use a control pad and the rest is just stuff I think's cool. Plus, it feels to me like there's more stuff worth modding in Skyrim (I never previously bothered with weather and lighting mods and such) and generally more room for customisation than in previous games. You really should do more research before posting. *sigh*Skyrim is not a bad game, and the amount of mods you use is no good way to decide which base game is better. I used 3 times as many mods in Oblivion, than I do use in Skyrim. Simply because there is no reason to run more mods than a few bug fixes and texture overhauls. The number 1 reason people might download more mods now, is because of good documentation, and that Skyrim is more popular than Oblivion or Morrowind ever was. Not saying better, but more popular. They tried to reach a bigger marked, and they did. Then there is the fact that PC is becoming more popular than consoles, which was not the case when Oblivon came out. Unless you really looked, you wouldn't even hear about Morrowind on release. So, Skyrim got a bigger player pool, modders are more experienced, the modding tools is better, the engine is better(ish), more people buy on PC, Steam is more popular, we got stuff as the STEP guide. Let me ask you, why do you need 400 mods? What exactly do you need changed that much? And why didn't you need to change that in Oblivion or Morrowind?Skyrim didn't do anything poorly. They got what they aimed for, then some more. TES6 will most likely improve on that. You're most likely going to have 600 mods for TES6 anyways, since it will be hyped even more than Skyrim were -- getting even more people to it. First off I liked both Oblivion and Skyrim and I think I've got more hours into skyrim. As for Bethesda getting lazy I don't think so as I loved the Vanilla version and played through that way for a few games. But there are some great modders out there that have made some excellent mods i.e. Vilja, Wyrmstooth, Falskaar just to name a few of the ones for which I love playing through. Now I never modded Oblivan due to the fact that I didn't realize you could nor did I know how.. Steam changed that at first till they broke several of my games twice by implementing a 50 mod cap. After they did the cap a 2nd time I vowed to get most if not all of my mods off Nexus. I don't even use steam to load the game due to the fact it takes to long for the stupid grey box "preparing to load skyrim". It was taking up words of 10 pus minutes just to get my mods to start loading. SKSE within seconds I'm playing the game. And trust me it's not because of the computer I use as I play Skyrim on the highest settings for which you can with no lag time what so ever. Only time I get CTDs are from a Mod. And I find it and try to make it work if not it's gone. Like right now I've got to find out why I'm CTD when I try to enter Breeze home. But not to worried about it at the moment ince I use Dragonstead as my player home. II think I might have figured it out and o e of these days I'll sit down and investigate it. Now as far as your having 400 mods I couldn't imagine having that many. Between Steam which I have 15 and Nexus 75 I only total 90 mods. The number of mods you use doesn't determine the quality of the base game.
NorthHare
And, of course, if a base game is actually bad, nobody will bother to mod it.
Lord Garon
Why has Bethesda gone Lazy, since i hear that Skyrim was Specifically made for the Xbox. Money. Skyrim is a console port because consoles, whether we like it or not, own the game market. Hopefully, the new generation console AMD hardware and improved AMD API's (Mantle) will allow more effective PC ports, cause console ports are what we're gonna get from the AAA studios from now on. In fact, there's really nothing to stop AMD and the game developers from making a "quantum leap" in console games and their ported versions. Just depends on how much effort the studios think the PC market is "worth". The new consoles have mediocre (compared to gaming PC's) hardware, but they're much more capable than last-gen consoles. If the studios "allow" scaling in the games, porting to a high-end AMD based PC, at least, should be fairly "easy". Just have to see how much effort the studios will put into gaining the pirate-ridden PC market. Edited May 29, 2014 by Lord Garon
