Dahveed Posted June 2, 2014 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Hello. So... I have a save game that has 120+ hours on it. I'm having a blast, I have everything running smooth as butter with over 100 mods - texture, meshes, sounds, combat etc. I've had a few hiccups here and there and 1 or 2 major scares where I thought my save was screwed but the last 20 hours or so have been flawless, I almost never crash anymore. However I decided to make a new mage-style character to try out the mages guild, but I crash to desktop every single time I finish the character creation screen, crash every time no exception. At first I thought it was because of the alternate start mod I was using, but even disabling ALL mods I have the same problem with the vanilla start: The movie plays, the prison loads, I see my created character, but before the first quest pop-up window appears, CTD every time. I'm using the steam GOTY edition and I have already verified game cache. I'm using the 4gb patch, and my computer and graphics cards are top of the line from 2013, so hardware or software isn't an issue. It isn't a mod conflict either obviously, since it still happens with no mods installed at all. I am really puzzled by this. My game runs flawlessly everywhere on my current save, I am perfectly happy. No glitches, no crashes - except on VERY rare occasions, which don't repeat themselves - all quests work. But for the life of me I cannot create a new game anymore? I have scoured the internet for answers but all the possible solutions have been ruled out . I've heard things about sound card issues, but that isn't it - obviously I've made my current game, 120 or so hours and sound never caused a problem. I have all the latest patches, I have unnoficial patches, I have used BOSS for load order, Wrye Bash for Bashed Patch, I have used a texture and BSA optimizer, I have tried messing with settings (lowering etc), I have done everything I can imagine... Has this happened to others before? (By "this" I mean this *specifically*, someone who can play their current character but simply cannot create a new one, even with their mods turned off...) madcow12 Posted June 2, 2014 Share Posted June 2, 2014 If you happen to use Remodeled Armor CBBE version, and are using the NonBBP version you simply need to install the HDT extension plugin into your skse plugins folder. no need for anything else just the dll file. or try getting the Showracemenu Precache killer. Dahveed Posted June 2, 2014 Author Share Posted June 2, 2014 Oddly enough I solved this problem by installing the "Lindum alternate start" mod. I can create new characters from there but not from Vanilla or the "arrive by ship" mod. Strange.
