slygothmog
Perfect Blue by Satoshi Kon is an all time classic adult psycho-thriller, you can't do better than this anime movie but it does contain nudity and a few sexually provocative scenes, so you will need to be 18 to purchase it. Pyrosocial
the best anime i have ever seen (and ive seen alot) is Elfen leid. i havent found anything that can compare to it yet. the manga was better though, but you can only get it translated at a site called onemanga or something. other than that my freind Alice has highly recamended Pandora hearts. Dhilar
Golgo 13 is also worth to watch. It's an old classic of the 80ies. Sometimes it reminds on movies like The Jackal, because the main protagonist is a profi killer. http://www.golgodou.jp/ Theatrical trailer:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJCrH1AGMGY
Spiralunix
A few of my faves have already been mentioned. Monster. Elfen Lied. Claymore. You'll like those a lot. I like Bleach, Naruto, and Rurouni Kenshin a lot too....but they are definitely not what you are asking for lol. Also, Berserk and Serial Experiments Lain. Berserk is one of the best out there, and if you like the idea of a guy who is complex, powerful, and full of anger and runs around killing, Berserk is your wet dream of mangas :P. Very deep, gripping, rich beautiful storyline full of detail and a lot of character growth. It is very violent and gory and has a lot of sexual crap as well
Dhilar
I've found a new anime I fell in love. Shigurui has stunning visuals and its art is very realistic. Have only seen a few clips, but it seems to be a good series. The story is about two samurai, one is blind the other has lost his left arm. Can't wait for a european release. http://funimation.com/shigurui/
Spiralunix
Oh I forgot to mention another of my faves. Blood +. Don't miss it. Wonderful anime and manga, my second fave in that sort of manga genre right after Berserk. Death note would probably be up there for me too but I have only gotten the chance to see the first five episodes. I haven't found the time to watch more unfortunately Also, I haven't gotten to watch it yet, but Paranoia Agent is supposed to be really good. Susumu Hirasawa is one of my favorite musicians and composed the soundtrack and he did the Berserk anime as well so that is how I found out about it. Watch the opening, it's pretty bizarre ;). The comments people are leaving about the anime really have me intrigued too.
