People in the US or anywhere not in Canada

I was watching the Lang n O'Leary Exchange yesterday (its jsut a show about business) and a guy said the price of cable in Canada is an outrage, and that a mobile phone plan with basically the same plan costs 80% less in the US, so I'm wonder what the cable business is like as well.

I'm using Shaw, the big dog in Canada , and my cable TV gives around 20 channels and my internet DL speed max out at around 750kb/s, at the cost of $75 per month.

That's not that bad, we pay nothing for internet atm, but it is about 43 (canadian) dollars a month. and the TV about 30. About the 30 channels (not counting the free ones/international ones). But my speed is only 450Kb/s. I'm from western-europe.

Whaha, no. Atm my sister still lives with us so we got free internet until next year when she moves out (She may have a free connection, but she'll take it with her when she moves out.). Although you can get free internet here, you'll have a slow connection and will get kicked off once to many users are on...but it's something. Although that's unworkable if you're an average user today.

don't have cable, but it runs about $30/month for basic these days around here..$65 for "expanded" digital...which is a scam. They took away a ton of excellent channels and try to make you pay an extra $8/month to get them...I hate cable lol. It was so awesome back in the day when there were no commercials and it was actually reasonably priced.

I get my Internet (4Mb down 2Mb up) for $45/month. I have DSL so I also have to have a phone line which only costs $15/month...unlimited local, 30 mins long distance, after that it's 10 cents a minute for long distance :) Bill runs $75/month after taxes and all that, not a bad deal. The net and the computer are the only thing I use as entertainment...I rarely watch TV, heck, I don't even own one anymore :P
