GNR - Music playing twice

Hello all

im having a problem with the GNR Music, every time a song comes over the radio it plays once and then plays the exact same song again straight after. i know it isn't a big problem but after i was cursed with the evil radio stutter bug the only way in my case to fix it was convert all the MP3's to WAV. i doubt this is the cause as heaps of people out there have done this fix and got it to work properly however i always seem to be the minority where no fix works 100%. any help would be appreciated because i would really like this bug gone so i can have GNR back to how it used to be.

Thanks

Already tried the Vista Codec Pack and this fix with installing Madfilters?

I'm running windows 7 ultimate, ill give that converting them all to mono idea a go, does it have a noticible impoact on sound quality?

Depends on the Music. If you want to hear modern songs which originaly were recorded in stereo, then you'll hear a significant quality loss. But these old songs have been recorded in mono. In my opinion you wont hear that much difference.

Yeah I've tried installing and running madfilter and there was no improvement, and I gave up on the codec packs after they mad the problem worse. Cool ill get to work converting all the songs and ill post back once I've converted and replaced them. I was also thinking, when I hex edited the ESP's so that they looked for WAV files instead of MP3 files could have a hand in this problem? Anyway thanks and ill be back in a jiffy.

Well it seemes to have done the trick, thanks guys cause I would have spent a fair while trying to work this one out hopefully this post will come in handy to other people with this problem, and you were right I couldn't notice any loss in quality. Thanks again and I bid you farewell.

I think the game must see 2-track stereo WAV files as two separate songs, at least in certain circumstances. I came across that hint in a build-your-own-radio-station tutorial, although I can't now remember what the explanation was. I think that the pipboy radio normally uses MP3s (mono or stereo), while the in-game radios & jukeboxes use a mono WAV version, but like I said I might be disremembering -- it's been a while. Glad you fixed anyhow ;)

Yeah you are right. The pipboy uses mp3 (stereo or mono), the Wastelandradios use wave and the speaker do use an ogg format. How they are used seems to be hard coded and they have slightly different names and ... well different file endings. The waves should be mono, which also halfes the file size. Anyhow, something went queer, might be with codecs or with the names of the files, dunno.
