balthazar9086
First, my spec: Pentium 4 3.2GHz2gb RAMATI Radeon X1950 512mb500gb hdd Now, my problem: I'm experiencing frustrating combat lag during battles with 5+ enemies, especially when I return to Redcliffe after the landsmeet (haven't gotten to the final battle, yet). All of my melee attacks would take upwards of 5 seconds to connect even though the animation has played through flawlessly. My spells, whether offense or defense or healing, also lag behind the animations that play perfectly. I know my system barely matches the minimum requirements (actually it doesn't even satisfy it properly), but I'm using lowered graphical settings (1440x900 instead of 1680x1050) with aa only at 2x. But I'm getting smooth frame rates, and I also installed PAR to remove the sustained visual effects. The lag makes the large battles VERY FRUSTRATING to play, especially when healing spells/poultices take a long time to kick in, while enemy attacks seems to have no problem connecting (i.e. no visible lag). Any help would be appreciated!
Balagor
Hello. As you mention yourself Pentium 4 3.2GHz2gb RAMATI Radeon X1950 512mb500gb hdd This is your problem. I am sorry to tell, but you badly need an upgade.DAO uses 100 % CPU power, even on a high end CPU, and theATI Radeon X1950 512mb have seen better days. TGBlank
Turn off combat damage floaties (the messages that say how much damage you did), it should help a little. Try also closing/killing unused programs when you play so the game can get more cpu to use.It still won't solve it entirely, you'd need a better pc for that. But it should help a little. aresrin
It may not just be his system specs I'm experiencing the same issue, massive lag (3-4 seconds) between a spell finishing its animation and its effects registering. This happens in areas with a large number of npcs. System specsWindows 7 Pro 64-bitCore2 Quad processor OC'd to 3.4Ghz4GB DDR2 RAMGeForce GTX 280 1GB DDR3 I've tried lowering all of the video settings down as low as they will go no aa, 800X600 resolution, low texture detail etc.. no effect on lagI've tried going into the process manager and manually closing all non-essential processes -No EffectI've tried changing the CPU priority of daorigins.exe from Normal to High and Low -No EffectI've tired disabling Aero Effects on my desktop (takes a lot of RAM) -No Effect I'm currently going through and disabling my mods one by one to see if they are the problem, I'll get back to you on how that works out. RustyBlade
It is a common issue that can affect anyone. Sometimes it will do it, sometimes it will not. It is a good practice to only play for about an hour at a time and give your rig 15-20 minutes to cool down between sessions; it helps sometimes but not always. If you are overloaded on area mods it will do it quite often regardless of system heat.
Codifer
I am encountering such lag after installing Patch 1.04. My system is ancient and borderline but did never have this lag with Patch 1.02.
