Morrowind is in Ruin?

Morrowind is in ruin, it has been clarified in a very interesting book named "Elder Scrolls: Infernal City." Which takes place 200 years into the future of Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Dagoth Ur erupted, most of the Dunmer escaped to Solsteim or mainland Cyrodiil and the surviving Dunmer staying in Morrowind are being slaughtered by Argonian Slaves who escaped after the collapse of the Slave Trades, the Khajit are escaping back to the Elsweyr Confederacy.

So the question still is, what will Elder Scrolls V bring us?

Is this book the official story? Or is it likely to clash with what is actually put in TES V? I think it is likely to be a lore-unfriendly book when all is said and done.

In my opinion, Oblivion is lore-unfriendly. Things were really not as I expected them to be from playing Morrowind. The emperor was not sick on his deathbed. His sons were not doppelgangers placed during the reign of Jagar Tharn (Or at least they get killed so we never found out for sure.) There is not lots of civil unrest and the Imperial Legion is not charging crowds and killing lots of rioters. Morrowind does not regain independence, the daedra carry off Vivec, and the Nereverine abandons his responsibilities and goes questing for pleasure in Akavir. (I wouldn't have done that if I was still role-playing the Nereverine.)

(And there is no levitation!)

The book mainly isn't considered canon and I think it never will be. I call it an attempt to fill the gap until the next game, whether in real time or the 200 years in-game that's rumored. Who knows, Cyrodill and hammerfell or maybe whole Tamriel will be blown up in the next book.

So wait, the destruction of Vvardenfell isn't official canon?

Not that I'm complaining, but it seemed to add a touch of realism to Oblivion in that the Invasion wasn't just limited to Cyrodiil. Does the book tell/show how the other provinces are doing?

Officially nothing is said, what I meant is that most people I've seen discussing it don't consider it canon.

Well, if you want to know a bit more and don't mind the spoilers: Take this link.

The only thing made up from press releases is this: The books are based on the ES series.

The few "official" information about Morrowind post-elder scroll III that's the player gets through rumors are: the disappearance of Vivec ("Take By the Daedra" ), The Nereverine excursion To Akavir, the end of slavery and the return of former slaves to they homeland (in contraction of Infernal city and the rebellion, but maybe in future the slavery will came back to Morrowind).

And off-game: the destruction of Ald'ruhn by the Daedra (similar what happened in Kvacht ) .

@tsff19

If you listened the rumors we'll know about attacks in other parts of tamriel mainly Morrowind and Skyrim. ( they talked about one city been overrun by the daedra)

ergh...man, I really didn't like this book at all...it just shattered everything for me :( It just doesn't fit to me...it's way too destructive and crazy.

And yeah, they are based on the series...it's not official and I think shouldn't be considered a part of ES lore or a bridge to ESV. Just doesn't work

I really think the next game you'll be in Akavir as the Nereverine, or it will go on to Skyrim to search for a new heir to throne or something along those lines. Maybe another Daedric Lord will stir up some trouble :P

But the pattern of the ES games is that you always start out as a nobody who eventually rises to become a big hero and the games are never direct sequels though. Although personally i love the idea of being the Nereverine again. Ive always been much more of an oblivion fan than morrowind but the aspect of being this mythical avatar type character was something that was sadly lacking in oblivion although the shivering isles ending (ill say no more for the sake of spoilers) was pretty cool.

Well it's not certain but f they continues to following the patch of we give hints about the next game through in-games peoples rumors, there's 3 places candidates to be in the next game, Morrowind (I don't think so because it's already the set of the ES III) ,Summerset Isle(the rumors about the mages there boycott Imperial's goods and the Daedra Worship ) and of curse the strongest Skyrim (the war against Dunmers, The Overrun of their main cities).

For those who didn't play Morrowind throughout the game the Char has informed by conversation about riots in the Imperial city and In bloodmoon there was a prophet who talks ( in an enigmatic way) about the assassination of the emperor
