LivinTarget
I give.. I have scoured the search's and looked for the last 2 weeks trying to figure this one out. I now know more about FO3 mods, tweaks, and troubles than I ever hoped to. But, still the one thing I can't get or find.. I have the GOTY version.. if I do a raw install from disk 1, everything works fine. I even had finished the game .. ( well, to the point where I nuked my dumb self) But, since my experience was topped out at 20, my radio was glitching, and I wanted to test out a couple mods to see where the game was going next (DLC still never worked.) FOMM said I needed to get the patch the game to use the mods and FOMM. So, patch I did .. The trouble is I can still run a raw version with no troubles but if I even put the 1.0.0.15 patch on it the game refuses to load. It starts like normal.. readjusts the window size for the game then crashes with this error .. But, for some reason I am not allowed to put a patch on it. Skotte
Some mods need the 1.7 patch to work
LivinTarget
Right, but, if my game won't run after I patch it then it makes all a little difficult. :P
Smosh
Can you please clarify. Have you installed the GOTY of Fallout 3 (which include the DLC's) or only Disc one and then patched to 1.7?
LivinTarget
Nope, Like I said. ANY changes I do after the initial install kills it. Any patch, any MODS, and yes.. even installing disk 2. I think I'm losing my mind.... :fakenopic:
Smosh
I'm sorry I don't have any answers. I didn't patch anything just installed the GOTY and FOMM worked for me just fine.
LivinTarget
I did try that.. however even installing the second disk causes it to not be able to start-up. :(
Smosh
Is it installed in your Program Files directory? Try a different directory if you have. I realise you are not using Vista but everything is worth a try.
LivinTarget
Na, that was one of the fixes I tried early on. It's installed into C:\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3. I have everything running as admin and just to be sure I changed it to run compat for XP sp3. Other than 16-50 crashes a day from running org ver. this version at least does run.. Short update .. I sent a copy of the first post in this thread to Bethesda. And was informed they do not support MOD's ... Can someone here please tell me how patches released BY Bethesda not working translates to a MOD?? :wallbash: What a waste of cash.. :verymad:
LivinTarget
Well, just got off the phone with Bethesda ... I WANT A FREAKIN REACH AROUND!!! I was informed that because of my operating system now, they WON'T support the product. I guess I know how much more of my money THEY'LL get in the future... :wallbash: :starwars: Smosh, I do appreciate your input. This just so sucks. My system is to NEW?????
