Load order and CTD

Hi guys! I've reinstalled Skyrim 50 bajillion times and tried it with vanilla and modded versions and i have constant ctds when i mod no matter how many times i reinstall, clean my archives, check compatibility, etc.

I can't think of anything else that could be causing my random, timeless ctds except perhaps my load order.

Here is my current list. I've tried going by mod instructions (but its hard to keep track of all my downloads) and using BOSS to optimise it but its still clearly not working. If somebody would be kind enough to rearrange my list to an optimal order that would be great and i'd be in your debt. Unless somebody can think of any other reason why my skyrim keeps crashing. Also, keep in mind i have to have Xvision children and Hot Male Housecarls down the bottom or else they won't load properly. Thanks for the great help!

Load order file is in the attachment to this post.

k. your processor, and ram are more than good enough. it might be your video/graphics card, but I don't know which one you have. other than that, it could be loose scripts from old mods that were not fully deleted when skyrim was reinstalled, or it could be dirty edits. I had a similar crashing problem, and TESVedit cleaning fixed it. also what detail settings are you playing it on?

Copy/paste your complete BOSS log here (the one with all the messages), include the BOSS version info, the SKSE info, and the list of plugins not recognized by BOSS if one is generated. Enclose them in a set of spoiler tags so they won't clutter the screen.

Thanks for all the great help and feedback guys!~ Ok, heres the BOSS lists but they're really long ^^;

Also, my graphics card is a AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series

Hmm... It may like be a problem with dirty edits. I may have to look into this but i'll see what you guys have to say ^^ Thanks again! Also, i added a couple new files since i posted the thread.

Mh, look into all those warnings BOSS gives you. Install any necessary patches, clean the mods that need to be cleaned, and so forth.

Also, you should really sort those unrecognised plugins as well. The BOSS user rules function really is great and easy to use, just sort the mods where they should go (house mods to the other house mods, clothing mods to the other ones, etc)

And finally... which version of BOSS do you use? The patches should go underneath those esms they patch, and the most recent version does so automatically.

There's several reasons for crashes. Do you know any special occasions on which the game crashes, such as when moving to certain areas or the like? I see you have Hassildor, and I know of one crash there; when you're in the children's room and look at the little castle, the game might crash. Simply disabling the several parts of the castle fixes this. Just in case this was one of the crashes that occurred to you.

More suggestions:

- load order isn't up to date. All unofficial patches should be placed directly after the corresponding esm. Check BOSS masterlist and BOSS itself for update or install 'LOOT' instead.

- you need to install all the necessary patches (for example "Sounds of Skyrim - Civilization COT patch, Sounds of Skyrim - The Wilds COT Patch, Sounds of Skyrim - Dungeons RLO patch..."

- cleaning files with TES5edit requires some skill. Watch this tutorial for cleaning the bethesda master files if you want to learn that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw3g_N1jcZQ

But ask the mod authors if it's really necessary to clean their files or simply install other similar mods instead.

- update old mod versions

- avoid any mods with deleted NavMesh records. First NavMesh deletions should be reported to the mod author. Check this if you want to fix those things yourself: http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/3337-skyrim-fixing-navmesh-deletion-using-tes5edit/

- Some mods requires additional DLC patches (for example UFO - Dawnguard AddOn.esp is required to work properly with Dawnguard)

- deactivate or delete incompatible mods (ClimatesOfTamriel-Dungeons-Hazardous.esp Active Incompatible with: Realistic Lighting Overhaul)

1) Your versions of the unofficial patches are horribly outdated, that is why they are loading after some esp's. You'll need to update them to the latest supported versions then run BOSS again. While you are at it, make sure all of the mods you are using are updated to the latest versions.

2) I recommend you uninstall 'Better Cities...' They are buggy and contain 'wild edits' which cannot be cleaned via the cleaning filter in TES5Edit.

3) Speaking of cleaning, download TES5Edit from the link in your BOSS log, follow the instruction on the same page, and clean the plugins flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits' (except where BOSS has explicitly indicated the 'dirty edits' are 'intentional'), including the DLC and update esm's.

4)

  • cartographers map markers.esp Active
    • Contains dirty edits: 281 ITM, 0 UDR records. Needs TES5Edit cleaning. A cleaning guide is available here.

I recommend you uninstall mods like these rather than clean them, unless you deem them 'essential mods.' The enormity of the 'dirty edits' puts the modder's level of expertise in question. Before you do though, check to see if the modder has released a new version which has a cleaned esp. If not, I recommend you uninstall it.
